$3,500 OFF MSRP
« on: August 30, 2014, 07:46:39 AM »

Surdyke HD in Festus, MO has three (3) 2014 CVO's on their showroom floor with tags on them saying $3,500 OFF MSRP.

A Blue Breakout, a Green Road King and a Blue/White Convertible.

Is that a normal thing you guys are seeing on there?

Yes.  They are all moving the '14 inventory.  I just bought my '14 RK CVO here in FL for 27.7K out the door with about 1.5k in parts included in that oto number.

Dealer had a sign on the CVO with a big US$3,000.00 OFF...

I sent a list of what I wanted to three dealers and made them work for my business.  So yes, you can get a decent deal on '14 now.

Now if i only had some spare $10,000 bills sitting around that Blue Breakout would be in my garage.

Who doesn't need a CVO Touring bike for those long runs and a CVO Hotrod for those weekend runs?

Love them dang Breakouts!

Just like with cars... when the new model year comes out, the dealers gotta get rid of the previous year models.

If I ever buy another CVO (unlikely), I will be taking this approach. No bragging rights are worth paying what the stealers are demanding for the newest CVOs... the prices have soared to ridiculous levels.

Ken I just took a trip to a few dealers on a nice ride Tuesday so the 2nd to the last week of August. I have never seen a better time to buy a brand new model. They were all slashed way down. I honestly think the best way to do this is if you see a 15 you like, wait until that time of the year to deal on it. Not only do you save big bucks, you also find out what kind of issues to expect!

Russ I agree. It may be a chore to find your desired model and color. I'm guessing with some patience though a guy could really score.

Seems the CVO 14 Kings did not move well in my area, as dealer has been discounting them for two months now.  Yet he has not discounted the CVO Ultra's, CVO Limited, CVO Street Glides or CVO road Glides ever.  He also did not discount the 13 CVO Kings.  Some times he has discounted Softtail CVO's and Dyna CVO's.

Local sales guy told me just that...the RK CVO did not sell as they expected... His comment got me thinking that it was the right bike to go for and negotiate...they were offering 3K off without any fight...so I pushed for more.  Ended up with a decent deal IMHO.

Same issue in my area, the 13 CVO Kings sold pretty good.  But local dealer is having troubles moving the 14's.  It seems every one wants a fairing now days.  King use to be HD's best seller.  I love my 13 CVO King, great bike for day rides.

In my opinion starting in '13 the CVO RK's don't have that classic look anymore. With no driving lights, that wonky windshield and the lower's on the '13's they just don't look like RK's. The new contoured bags on the '14's, painted fork trim and color schemes don't help with the look either. Just an opinion though. Seems every dealer I've visited has CVO RK's available. Either new or low mileage trade-ins.

I don't think the  Road Kings or any other cvo without a fairing sells like the dealers want them to.  That's why they get discounted.  Most of us want the radio and the goodies that go with the limiteds, rg and sg,      They know it just like we know it.  Just my thoughts     Stuart.

Personal opinion....I believe the '14 SERK is a great looking bike but was a letdown from the "13.  The '13 had the sound system along with a few other items the "14 didn't come with at around the same price.  Yes, the '14 had the "Rushmore" changes (really only the saddlebags, handlebar controls and a new speedo for the RK) but still sorta a step back from the '13.  Again, not dissing anyone's bike here....just attempting to express my opinion of why the '14 SERK didn't sell and is currently at a discount.  Like others have stated, if you are sitting on the fence for one, now is the time to jump in it.....

There was a US$2,000.00 difference between the two in terms of MSRP.  But for that difference, correct, you could not add everything that came with the 2013 to the 2014.  I had the same initial shock when I saw them the day they were released and appeared at the local dealer.

With 2013 Road King CVO you got: Anniversary colors (that looks good imho) or additional colors without the anniversary logos; lowers with speakers; saddlebag lids with speakers; iPod; passenger backrest; oval air cleaner to clear the lowers, chromed mirrors; ABS; chromed exhaust tips; chromed headlight housing; chrome handlebar and controls; rear end/lights are almost flush with the fender (which I think it is better executed than on the 2014, just looks better imho)

With 2014 Road King CVO you get:  Tribal design in the paint (that looks great imho);New (easier to use) hand controls; Linked brake system with ABS; redesigned front (wider forks, larger neck bearings); new saddlebags (larger and easier to open/close); round black mirrors; chrome and black exhaust tips; color matched headlight housing; black engine guards; different air cleaner because there is no interference with any lowers; black handlebar (I think it is a thicker handlebar, not sure) and controls; rear end/lights protrude from the fender (but light is much brighter than 2013); keyless ignition so you do not have the knob on the center of the tank.

I am really close to pulling the trigger on a 14 CVORK too. $4K below MSRP (24500) with no Freight or Setup, so more like 5K off. Can get either Sherwood or Tribal Orange. I feel like I can get em closer to 24 once I get there.

I have been loving the Orange since I first saw one and the deal is hard to pass up.....

The 2014 CVO Breakouts here in Oregon seem to have sold out a while ago. I guess every market is different. Now I just need to talk my local Stealership to cut me a deal on a hold over 2014 Street glide special (the still want 24k for them)

It's a toy people. Supply and demand. If you want it buy it. When you are done sell it. =. What you paid for the fun.

Obviously it's all a matter of taste. I thought they were more reminiscent of the RK Customs...so yeah, it's a little ironic that they'd make a cvo version of a discontinued trim.
