15 FLTRUSE - I guess you can't get them wet!!
« on: October 12, 2014, 11:28:39 PM »

Well, I planned on writing a rave review after my 1k service last week, but decided I would do it after this weekends 600+ weekend ride up thru Broken Bow and Talameina. However, this will be nothing other than a complaint session and I will get to the overall review once these issues get sorted out.

Bike is all stock except for Rinehart 4" slipons.

I had ZERO issues when I dropped the bike off for 1k service. I picked the bike up Thursday and immediately noticed that my iPhone no longer was connecting via USB. No music, no charge, nadda. I tried 2 cables, zilch.

Parked for the night on Friday in Broken Bow OK, where it then poured like mad all night long. Saturday morning I find a freaking puddle in my tourpak and everything soaked. It was shut and locked, no question about it.

Saturday during my ride I notice that my left heated grip is noticeably less hot than the right. By Sunday night the left no longer works and right side is about 50%.

Sunday ride home I notice cruise control isn't working. The yellow light comes on but won't activate/turn green. A few miles later I notice that my gear indicator isn't showing anything!! Throughout the 400 mile ride home, both would come on at random. They NEVER worked at startup, but would come on at some point and stay working until shutoff. As soon as the gear indicator showed up, the cruise would work. They must be linked.

Due to the fact that my bike puked itself the first time it saw rain, my buddies have named it "Gremlin" LMAO.

Wow. I'll be paying attention to this thread, especially the puddle in the tourpak.

Not what I wanted to hear. Every bike trip I've taken, I've got poured on at least once. Hope they get it all figured out.

I'm curious to know how water got in your tour pak.  If the lid is closed and locked, your not moving, and rain falls down, the only entrance for water is through the luggage rack hole. Yes?

My uncle had the cruise and gear indicator issue. Something to do with a sensor on the engine? Fixed under warranty. 14 SGS

I'm afraid this is going to be more common in the future.  The work force is not in the same frame of mind that they used to be.

And they jacked the price up to $40K?

Why automatically blame the workforce for the cheapening of the product and lowering of quality standards perpetrated by management?  The workforce just assembles the cheap low quality components management buys.  I didn't see any mention of an assembly error in the OP.

Jerry

The workforce is not all union any more.  There is a lot of resentment from the older union guys.  I picked up on that when I took the factory tour and talked to a few of them.  HD is now hiring temp factory workers.  Tell me this doesn't affect the final product.

The water leak and electrical problems the OP mentioned could be from assembly error.  I guess we will need to wait and see.

Wow, that is not good the water in the Tour pack or the other what seem to be water related issues.  My bikes all get ridden in the rain.  I have rode 500 miles in the rain in a day. Sure hope mine does not leak, looks like Wednesday I will be leaving in the Rain for Waycross GA.
