CB on Rushmore bikes
« on: November 24, 2014, 10:51:08 AM »

I test rode a '14 Limited (non-CVO) a couple months ago but it was a very short ride and I didn't get to check out the new infotainment center.  Last Saturday I had the opportunity to take a '15 CVO Road Glide Ultra on an extended test ride with a couple of friends.  We use the CB and I found the relocated CB PTT a real PITA!  Whoever decided to switch sides for the cruise control and CB switches ought to be given the Rushmore dumbazz award imo.  Now I know many of you do not use the CB at all so this may not be relevant.  But for those of us who do this is monumental.  I mean it takes half a second to set the cruise but whenever you want to transmit on the CB you must hold that darn PTT switch down and it is very difficult to do that while on the throttle.  It seems to me that the cruise and the PTT switches have the same functionality so I'm wondering if the terminus of each could be re-pinned and swapped so as to move the PTT back to the left and the cruise to the right.  Anyone with a '14 or '15 electrical diagnostics manual who could check on this?

Who remembers when they switched the brake pedal to match the rest of the world  :nixweiss:

Maybe they are trying to give people cruise ops in the same relative position as the cars they drive, left side control.

Your not alone in your thoughts. However did decide to move it probably never rode or doesn't think its a problematic act.

I have to agree they need a dumb a$$ award for this one.

Problem will be the new wiring is can buss, there not just contact switches anymore but if one wanted to experiment with it there may be a solution.

Guess I'm a little slow, never noticed the difference and I have used both. Just seemed OK to me. My 15 has it and I really never even thought about it.

right now you cannot change it by reprogramming it...but maybe later on you could reprogram it so the ptt and cruise are reversed...after all they programmed the driving lights to stay on with the hi-beams so maybe it will be possible

While I'm STILL waiting on my bike to get here, I've heard a few talk about the PTT switch being by the throttle. I use my CB alot while traveling with other bikes. Seems like I normally have the cruise set when using it or have the VOX set just right so if I need to say something quick, I can. I hope it isn't an issue on the new bike for me. I know that CC button was a pain on the right side at times.
