New handlebars for a 2015 RGU CVO.
« on: December 11, 2014, 11:55:59 AM »

Has anyone heard anything about Harley coming out with a ;D 2nd option this Spring? My new 2015 is due in February. I'm 6'6" and stock bars seem close for me. ;D

You could always just remove the pin and move them forward like most of us are..  The bars themselves seem very comfortable.  Just position them correctly.

I'd second FLH91's suggestion.  I thought the stock bars look very nice.  But if you want to spend money, there are plenty of custom bar makers you can consult. Just make sure they know it's going on a 2015.  Custom bars will run from  $350 and up.  Install is a lot more unless you do it.  I did mine on my '09 recently and am happy.

I had the dealer pull the pin, and rotate mine up a lot.  This is much better, but I after 5K miles was still missing my Apes.  So I have Yaffee OEM Monkey Bars 14" on order.  They are on back order until Feb.

I love them, had them on my 12 SERG and have them on my current 13 SERK

I'm a mere 6' and the stock position was horrible, obviously they are marketing to the vertically challenged. Removed pin and moved the bars forward and it was much better. So far so good but I have barely any miles on it yet so time will tell. You could at least try it and if you don't like it then buy some you like more.

Cheers Tom

One of the complaints about prior iterations of the RG was the handlebar position - it was too far of a reach for the average male, which in the U.S. is just over 5'9.  When I sit on a '15 RG, the bars seem perfect, and I'm 5'9.  I guess you've got to please the greatest number.

I have been told more than once that Harley designs its stock bike to fit a 5'8" person, be it bars or windshields,  Then they have aftermarket for the people taller or shorter.  Pretty much true on my 13 CVO King windshield.

My wife hated the older road glides due to seat, and bar reach.  She loves the 15 and has one.

I can't quite understand why after all these years Yaffe can't get his $hit together enough to match up on his "supply and demand" so folks don't always have to wait month's for his bars?

Last time I went through this process it let me to:  www.vindikta.com      And as a reward for a little extra homework I found several things that Yaffe was lacking such as: great customer service, access to speak directly to Joe the owner, options to have my bars custom built to my specs, quick turn time less then 2 weeks had them in hand, 1.5" vs 1.25" diameter which looks better IMO and is quite a bit easier to run wires through, availability of matching engine guards and crash bars, built to accept heated grips, price was similar but I felt overall fit & finish was better.

May be worth a look for those who need a quicker turn time from order to installation or those who want to make a few minor changes.

Here's set of Vindikta bars that maybe a little tall for some but purely a thing of beauty and can be made to your preferred height specs.

I'm 6'2" and am pleasantly surprised that the stock bars fit me well and are comfortable. 350 miles only at this point, but I like them.

Moved mine up some and it helped.  However I do not like the wrist angle at all on a 500 plus mile day.  So, thats why I went 14 monkey bars.  Had them on my 12 SERG and still have them on my 13 SERK.  Two more months and they should be on the 15 SERGU.

Have only been able to log 100 miles at a stretch. I'll keep in mind what you said about the wrist angle. I'm happy now and don't really want to swap bars. Time will tell.

For you that have pulled the pin, is this something that can be done at home? Also, are there pins to rotate the clutch and brake nadir assemblies?
