I need one of those in my garage!

But then again just having enough money to buy a rig like that would make me happy!

Either way, it's all good.

Great looking bike JC!

Any mods to the bike JC - is the engine/exhaust/suspension stock? Really nice looking combination...  :2vrolijk_21:

Completly stock with the exception of pullback bars, a thicker rider's backrest, kurakyn passenger adj. footpegs and rider and passenger cup holders.

I really got lucky on this one on so many levels.  Still has the factory warranty then it has the additonal five years extended service agreement (warranty).  And......no secret on this forum, that extended warranty has more than paid for itself on the last four baggers I've owned.  In this case, I only have to pay the transfer fee. :2vrolijk_21:

I kind of look at this deal like I paid $29,995 for the bike and that's a decent deal by itself.  The Bushtec and extended warranty were thrown in for free.

Congrats on getting back on one. Pretty much stock? I wonder if you can throw a couple of BAL lights on that Bushtec to really get people to see it even more. Although I think it'll really be noticeable with the lights that are on it now.

Looks like I'll be spending xmas day traveling I-85 and I-20 from Matthews, NC to Shreveport, La.  860 miles.  A pulse check at this point and if that back is holding out, I'll push on to Forney, Tx. 1,023 miles.   I'm not sure I have one of those 1k mile days left in me anymore (even if the back does hold out).

I'll certainly be thinking about all of you enjoying the day with your families snuggled up in a warm house.  :(

Thanks a bunch guys.

Roger I've owned two Bushtecs in the past.....one since I've known you.  Photos are on this forum someplace, it's the one that I sold to SanJose Duke.  The first Bushtec I had for a number of years prior to meeting you.  It's the one that's with my 89 Ultra Classic (black and silver) and I had it painted to match.  It's the one that's in a couple of the Harley Davidson books that I'm in and that set up brought home a number of trophys.  So.......not my first rodeo with Bushtecs.  ;)

I am curious why you thought you'd never see me pulling a trailer?  Kind of reminds me years ago when I got my first bagger....went from a stripped down 86 Heritage with bars to the stars, S&S sidewinder built motor to that 89 Ultra Classic.  None of my road dogs could believe it....thought I lost my mind getting an old man's motorcycle.  Of course now they're all on baggers.  :huepfenlol2:

JC, I'm getting old and forgetting stuff. I still have a mental pic of splitting traffic on double yellows in the twisties with you.
Yea, I remember the days when it wasn't cool to have windshields or electric starters, only for the week we'd say.
Great looking combo you'll have now with the trailer.

Curious JC.  Are you feeling a little, or a lot, better (hope so) and think the body is up to riding again?  Or just had the itch and figured you'd ride some on the days it felt good?  Whichever enjoy the bike.

Trying to put that off until after I retire in a couple of years.  Can't afford to take four months off work right now.  But they shot some steroids in to my knee about 5-6 weeks ago and the pain is completly gone.  They did tell me that'll wear off at some point but on a daily basis I remain greatful for it, how ever long it lasts.

I get a steroid shot in a joint my lower back/hip once a year...  I go from excruciating pain to absolutely no pain with the steroid shot.  And it lasts about a year, then I get another.  I've been doing this for about 4 years now with success...

This was after I endured about a year of physical therapy and chiropractor adjustments resulting in not even a hint of improvement.

You must be getting old and forgetting stuff (and people).  I would never ride like that....you've just forgot who that was.

But I do have a question.....did you hang with that guy that was splitting traffic on double yellows?  Yes or no, one thing comes to mind....that ol' sayin....if you can't hang with the big dogs, stay on the porch!  :P

This was after I endured about a year of physical therapy and chiropractor adjustments resulting in not even a hint of improvement.

Interesting.  After I got the immediate relief on my knee, I asked the doc "why can't you do that for my back?".  He said "well, we may be able to".  So, coincidentally, I can't do an MRI due to all the metal in my body however, I am scheduled for a CT scan this afternoon.  I can only dream of being pain free again, even if it's temporary......I'd be up for that a hell of a lot quicker than another surgery.  Just don't feel like I'm up for to many more surgeries.

Now, back to this....

I've been pretty calm and relaxed about it until the last 24 hours or so.  Now I'm obsessed again.  :)  You guys know what I'm a talkin bout.

The injection I receive is into the sacroiliac joint.  The doctor uses ultrasound to guide the needle directly into the joint space.  He first injects a medication that numbs the area, and then injects a corticosteroid using a quite long needle directly into the sacroiliac joint. Because of the area is numb from the first medication, I feel almost nothing but a bit of pressure in the joint during the injection of the steroid.  It's immediate relief that lasts about a year.  The doctor says most people typically get at least 6 - 9 months relief, with some getting up to a year...

Nice bike and trailer. I have the same bike and I'm considering purchasing a trailer for long trips. I've never pulled one with any bike I've owned and was wondering how it was traveling. Also what should I look for in a trailer. Thanks for any input you can give me.

If I remember correctly (Chip will let me know if I'm wrong) it had 13,500 miles on it when I left Chip's garage xmas morning.

This past weekend I turned over 20k miles.  6,500 miles in just under three months and three weeks.  Other than a back tire and a couple of oil changes....trouble free miles.  :2vrolijk_21:

Kind of like when I first started riding my Street Glide with a quick release tour pack.  Pretty soon the tour pack just wasn't coming off.....just very convenient to have.  The trailer is kind of the same way......go grocery shopping, Costco.....what ever and not have to worry about "sure hope I can get all this strapped on somehow".   :2vrolijk_21:

I was thinkin I probably have the safest rig on the road but after looking at yours......well, mine may be second safest.  ;D

Returned from the 2015 Ouray, Colorado GTG yesterday.  Hail, rain and 115F temps and everything in between.....the bike was very, very dirty.  Spent the day today washing and polishing it, then took it over to the water's edge to snap some pics....

Truth be known.....I'm posting these pics because I don't know if this bike will ever be this clean and polished again...... :P

Much more impressive looking in person. Took 2nd place in the WC GTG Bike show in Durango last week but JCZ graciously disqualified himself as he was the event organizer.

Only problem is that is you see it on the road you'll only get an ass-end view as JC goes buzzing by you like you are standing still.

What a beautiful duo, JC!  In my opinion, there is no better trailer out there for the FLHT than the Roadstar.  And the paint... it is exquisite!  I've always thought the Roadstar was so cool and the "old school" look is an awesome match for the Electra Glide.

But where an RGU is concerned, I have to admit that the Turbo +2 is a better match for the RGU.  Maybe a more new-school look is what the RGU needs, and even tho the Turbo's been around a long time, it still has that Road Glide kinda look.

Thanks for sharing all the great pics!  I know you're proud!

OK....the one year update....it's not near as cold across this country as it was a year ago.  I'll never forget what it was like riding across Ariz. in 14F temps. :nervous:  And the fact that Ariz. was the coldest state, riding across this country.  :nixweiss:

Seriously, 21,000 miles later the bike has been very, very good to me.......and it still has the stock seat!  :2vrolijk_21:  I believe it was 1986....my Heritage (first year of Heritage) the last time I had a bike that had a stock seat.  It wasn't to comfortable but back then it was the "look good" that was important and not so much the comfort.  ;)

The bike and trailer has been good to me.  After I got it home, it has one long distance trip to Colorado and back and a number of California rides.  Back and forth to Nor Cal three times, 500 miles each way.  Two rear tires replaced free on the extended warranty due to screws, one front tire.  Fullsac ceramic coated X pipe and 1.75 baffles and tuner to minamize the heat issue but the increased performance while keeping the motor stock is an added bonus.

I wasn't overly fond of the color but it continues to get a lot of attention everywhere I go.  And.....it sure stands out in a parking lot full of bikes.  :2vrolijk_21:  It's growing on me.  I mean it could been a plain vanilla blue.  :nixweiss:   :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

OK....the one year update....it's not near as cold across this country as it was a year ago.  I'll never forget what it was like riding across Ariz. in 14F temps. :nervous:  And the fact that Ariz. was the coldest state, riding across this country.  :nixweiss:

It's ok, a couple thoughts though.
The last bike JC had was Cobalt Blue and he loved it.
Now, JC says the color of his current bike is growing on him.

So let me translate his last sentence of his last post.
"I'd rather have a blue bike but this one is nice and the price was right."
JC is just busting our balls.

That really is a fine looking combo JC. When I first looked at the bike I eventually purchased I thought the paint was downright ugly. That coupled with the sticker price lead me to believe one would have to be a bit whacked to a pursue a deal on it. I certainly don't feel that way about now however and like the paint just fine - and it does stick out in a crowd. Didn't get as many miles on mine this year - just over 10k on a much shorter season...

Went for a ride early this morning.  By myself so had an opportunity to shoot some more pics of the bike.

Looking good JC  :2vrolijk_21:

I'm guessing after a day like that you are once again happy to get back on the rides after your brief departure.

Nice image group JC! Attached is a shot of mine at RayG's in New Hampshire yesterday, getting ready for riding season. Not quite the same impact though <g>...

Yep, you're sure right Duane.  By the way....that was my second departure.  The first was after my bad motorcycle accident.....2 months in the hospital, ten surgeries and months in a wheel chair.  Didn't ride for a couple of years after that.  Tried the boating thing but it could never take what I get from motorcycling.....had to get back up.  :2vrolijk_21:

Kiro....doesn't have the same impact.....YET!  But it will, once you're back in the saddle.

Haven't washed my bike since Miguel and I rode up to Death Valley and been riding every weekend since....so it was bug encrusted.  Took it to Black Diamond Motorcycle Detail....got it back this afternoon.  This bike sure doesn't look three years old and over 30k miles.....

Miguel had his bike done at the same time, by a different detail company that will remain nameless ....

Hey, JC...
It still looks that great because they don't pave your roads with rock chips or pea gravel, and you don't have near as big a bugs as we do here!   :D
But seriously, your bike likes the sun.  It really explodes in the right light, doesn't it!
I'm wondering if the guy that sold it to you back east has seen recent pictures of his old baby?
