05 SEEG - Breaking News!
« on: July 15, 2004, 12:47:29 PM »

The 05 SEEG (and other CVO bikes) are now on the HD website!

http://www.harley-davidson.com/PR/MOT/CVOP/en/05_FLHTCSE.asp?locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US

Same paint scheme as 04, just different colors. Three color combos (yellow / teal / cherry). I like the two two cherry paint :)

A couple other changes I noticed are "vented" fairing lowers, different wheels (5 spoke) and the bike comes with a chopped tour pak. Of course the price is almost $1500 more than last year.

There's also a Screamin Eagle Fat Boy and a V Rod too.

After looking at the 5's I'm even more grateful I got mine.  IMHO... What were they thinking?!?!?!  [smiley=nervous.gif] You thought that was too much orange??? That's really too much yellow.  Ouch

OK...I'm Soooooooo glad I got mine when I did.  Notice no 6-speed tranny...don't really like the colors...didn't want the chopped tour pak, and the price went up considerably.  Hmmmmm.

Fat boy and v-rod are nice looking tho.

I believe that it was about two months ago that I posted on this site that there will definately be an 05 SEEG and that it will be called the FLHTCSE2.  And, eGlide Goodies leg fairing vents are cheaper and look nicer than the 05's.

I received a call from the dealer today and they said I should have my 05 SEEG my mid August [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] .  I don't know about my 05 SE FatBoy.  I ordered that one in silver, but I am going to sell that one ebay  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].

YES, I think the red is the best color for 2005.

Awesome looking bike.  The red is easily the best color for 05, in my opinion.  Do you know your shipping date?

Great pictures of the red one......do you have good clear photos of the yellow?  Just curious what it really looks like.  I'd like to see a picture of all the 04 and 05's side by side.

By the way Wiseasp.......welcome to the board!  Personally, I think it's the best site on the board.  A lot of good solid information without all the flaming and BS that dominate so many of the other sites.  You're gonna like it here. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

FYI...

Well my dealer called today and said that the color roll out for 2005 SEEG are first teal then yellow then red.  I will not see my 05 red until February or March 2005 [smiley=shocked2.gif].  I called 2 other dealers and both said the same thing.

SOOOOO I bought a Black Cherry 2005 FLHT standard at MSRP and I am going to just add the radio, exhaust and removable back rest.  Then once the SEEG comes in I will sell this FLHT.  I hope I not lose any money on the FLHT since I did get it for MSRP.

I saw teal 05 SEEG last night at the dealership and spent some time checking it out to compare differences between the 04 and 05.

There's the obvious differences, wheels, rotors, air cleaner cover, etc.

The 05 seat looks more "passenger friendly". The rider section appears to have more padding and a little deeper bucket.  It has some sort of ostrich or snakeskin looking panels vs. the perforated leather of the 04 seat.

The fairing lowers are a single color and don't have the two tone "swoosh" that the 04 has. IMO, that takes away from the overall look of paint scheme. The adjustable vent is plain black plastic and while it may be more comfortable it doesn't look as good as the 04 and older lowers.

The "stealth luggage rack" is different. It isn't a detachable rack. Instead it is integrated into the bar that the 04 and earlier license plate bracket attaches to. The license plate is relocated underneath the tail lamp / turn signal bar.  While I like the rack I didn't care for the new license plate bracket.

The new 05 headlamps look cool.  I inquired about one for my SEEG, but the dealer says they already have orders for several of them and have no idea when they will arrive.

The extended right front heat shield looks good.  "I gotta get me one of these

MoChrome, excellent summary of the '05 changes.  I totally agree with your opinions on all points.  One thing additional, though, on the license plate bracket: Mounting it where they did under the turn signals/tail lamp will leave half the rear fender covered up by the plate.  On the '04s, the license plate is up and outta the way and ends up being barely noticeable compared to the new setup.

I am biased, so I will always be partial to the '04s for all the same reasons you pointed out, but even with the changes to the '05s, these are the most fabulous bikes H-D has ever produced.[smiley=beerchug.gif]
