What do the letters mean in yor Motorsickle?
« on: December 18, 2005, 09:05:00 PM »

So many motorsickles, so little understanding...

Question for you, do you know what the letters stand for in your motorsickle model?

Perhaps even more important, do the associates with your dealer know?

Things that make you got mmmmm....

I had this bookmarked:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson

Model designations
Harley model designations are a sequence of letters and numbers, combined in limited ways. The sequences can be long, as in the 2006 model designation FLHTCUSE.

The first letter is one of the following:

F (Big Twin), M (Military), X (Sportster), or V (VRSC)
Letters are appended singly or in pairs, as follows:

B (Belt Drive), C (Classic or Custom), D (Dyna Glide), DG (Disk Glide), E (Electric start), F (Fat Boy), H (High compression), L (Hydra Glide forks), LR (Low Rider), P (Police), R (Race or Rubber-mount), S (Sport or Springer), SB (Single belt final drive), ST (Softail), T (Touring), WG (Wide Glide), I (Fuel injection), SE (Screamin

Now this is funny and sad...several persons in my dealership had it ALL wrong...

I guess it's kinda like going to Best Buys and asking the newly employed clerk, what is the best [insert interest, DVD, TV, Camera, etc]?

As someone in sales most their life, I make sure my staff knows it's product prior to expecting them to sell it.

And here I thought it was simple...Thanks spyder for confusing me even more...Har....

And Jock, if that's not bad enough, the 'N' in FLSTN stands for Nostalgia....started in '93 with the limited edition 'cow-glide' or 'moo-glide' and many referred to it, but the next year Harley kept the letters for the '94 the same, but didn't call the m-cycle a 'Nostalgia' but rather a 'Special'.........is that confusing enough?  :-/ har.  spyder
