Another option for the Breakout
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:26:14 PM »

Haven't seen anybody mention this, but I'm thinking the V/H shortshots staggered might look good on there since they are so short and would leave the entire back wheel open.

We are going with V&H Big Shot Staggered, pipes are already here now need the bike. Good power with cross over pipe. Same as we had on the FXDF but chrome.

Was keen on Samson's but they dont have the cross over pipe.  :-\

Just a heads up.  The short shots are seriously LOUD.  Not mentioning it as a plus or a minus, just letting you know in case you have not heard them before.  When my wife had a Sporty 1200 we put those on....she loved it loud so it worked out great, just wanting you to know.  Now, they may be different on the 110 motor-not sure.

To my ears, they are about double the sound volume of the BR 2-1 and 2-2....

Just my opinion, of course, but I don't care for them or any straight exhaust on the Breakout.  when you look at the profile of the bike, there is a high rake angle from the back of the seat all the way up to the risers.  I think an exhaust that arcs then curves downward as it approaches the rear wheel lines up better and accentuates the bike's profile.

Those do look good..... IMHO, any of the pipes that open up the rear wheel look the best.

So far, my favorite is the BR 2-2. Hopefully I get a set on soon.

Had Short Shots on my Switchblade when I purchased it. Too loud for me. Probably the loudest pipe V&H makes. Might be your thing and that's fine. Just know that going in.

I like it!  Thanks for the mock-up.  Still trying to make the final decision.  Better do it soon before the weather starts warming up (I hope!).

Vance & Hines makes a quite baffle that might help quite them down some. :nixweiss:
Cost approx $40 each.

Had them with the quite baffles on my fatty - IMO they made little differance to the loudness but did make the sound deeper. Too loud for me with the Breakout. I have a set of straight shot slipons fitted to her at the moment (which are too loud) as a stop gap till I make my mind up so keep the pics coming in guy's
Just got a PV2 today so its play time as soon as the weather cheers up.

Z06_Pilot and clubhes both made good points. Decision comes down to deciding if its better to show off as much of the back wheel as possible with shortshots or to accent the contour of the bike with BR.  Decisions decisions.
