been between jobs for the first time since high school for the last couple of months so been riding almost every day like a crazy man and loving it! Thats the good news, bad news is last week I hit a patch of oil on a downhill off camber turn and ended up high siding at about 20+ MPH. was wearing my Langlitz leather jacket with Bohn armor underneath, Held Titan race gloves and my AGV Carbon Sportmodular helmet. I sometimes question myself for spending what I do for my riding gear but I sure as he-- never will again! first thing that hit the asphalt was my helmet and then hit hard after on my elbow and shoulder and rolled almost burning through the titanium knuckle covers on my gloves.
great news is other than being bruised up like crazy I didn't have a bit of road rash and not even a headache (helmet looked like it was thrown from a 4 story building..) which was amazing!
Bad news is I got the estimate today and it did almost 16K of damage. Thank God for insurance! I immediately ordered the same helmet and gloves which insurance paid most of ($1000 limit) and hopefully will not give me a hard time over the dealers estimate. Dealer is replacing all painted parts so I won't haver to worry about tryin g to have a painter trying to match the Mako Shark fade which I was very worried about when It first happened. Only bad thing about that is we all know how long the wait is for the painted parts from the MoCo. At least I feel like the bike will be perfect when it is done.
For anyone debating whether the high dollar gear is worth it I absolutely will say it is!
I started my new job yesterday and it could have been a whole different beginning for me if I was not wearing what I was..

Glad to year your okay, other than bruised up and banged up.  You are correct about good gear.  Two years ago it really minimized my wife's injury's when she went down on the interstate.  No road rash, but broken ribs and shoulder and wrist.  Only a 8 hour hospital stay.

Knowing this, I still often times do not wear all the gear all the time.

I just saw that you went with Indian like I did. The dealership I bought my 2019 Chieftain from had a 2018 Chieftain in the same color you got. If I would have wen the 2018 route that is the color I would have got. Sure is a Beautiful bike!! Congrats!!

Kville Indian had your bike, too. My favorite color on the 2019 chieftain limited. Saw it in the sunshine at one of their demo events and it's a beauty. The redesign 2019 faring on the chieftains are growing on me and I really like the new design saddlebags but the '18 in that black pearl had caught my eye ever since Sturgis 2017 and the like never faded over the months.

Plus it's half the price and, in my opinion, twice the bike as my '15 was and I really liked that SERGU

Got the pak from my 17 prepped for 19 paint, aux lights and heated suit switches and passenger floor boards ready for installation.  Just waiting on the fullsac 2.25 baffles, Vance & Hines tuner then I’m gonna tear the exhaust off this thing and he’s gonna lose his cat. Pics to follow...

Took bike in for the 70,000 mile service and the warranty repair of my fifth compensator!  This one had less than 6,000 miles on it.

Ordered a Corbin Classic Solo with passenger pillion and riders oval backrest. The stock seat was the best stock Harley seat I had ever experienced until I hit about 17k and then I seemed to need more frequent stops to keep monkey butt at bay. Must be the foam breaking down, or my bonyass gettin bonier.  :nixweiss:
Anyway it should be here in about 3 weeks.

Installed a Baker compensator with an M8 chain tensioner on my 2007 FLHRSE3. The stock compensator spring plates were loose and causing occasional backfire on startup, and clunking noise when turning bike off. Went through a battery and a starter because of it. Running fine now. Gonna replace the cam chain tensioners next. Looking at the ones made by Zipperʻs.

I rode over to ID yesterday to get the bike worked on by Rick at Soft Brake. Well I think I must have killed a few thousand bugs on the ride home so the bike needed a bath REAL bad.

Cleaned the rear caliper from all the built up brake dust. It was causing a horrible racket during low speed heavy rear braking.

Sent from my boring Droid phone.
