2011 CVO Street Glide IPoD Nano
« on: September 02, 2017, 12:06:22 AM »

My IPOD is dead. Will not power up. On bike it says IPOD not responding. When I hook it to my computer it will not turn on. I can't see a model number on it or in the owners manual. Anyone know what is compatible to use?

any of the older ipods with the larger connector.  I use an older iphone because it has a larger memory.  Just need to be the older wider connector and have a full charge.  It will charge while riding, but mine runs down when parked. I dont think the iphone will shut itself off.

I think I may have an old IPOD with the large connector somewhere. I will give it a try. I would like to have it work just like the original.

The old 1GB IPOD I have works in my street glide so I don't have wiring problems. Now I need an IPOD with more storage. Be nice to get one that shuts off when bike turns off.

I've had to do a reset more than once on various I-pods, including the CVO one. It brings it back to life for year....or a few months....

Can't remember the buttons to push/hold......I know I should write it down somewhere.....but....google it.

To reset the 6th generation iPod Nano, you have to hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button at the same time for at least 8 seconds
A few weeks ago mine was 'dead' and 'not responding' and these steps fixed it.....I looked in my browser history.

Thanks Dyna66. Tried what you suggested but did not help. No sign of life. My PC doesn't detect it when connected either.

On the 2012 I used a CoolStream Bluetooth adapter in the saddlebag 30-pin connector and then connected my iPhone or iPod via bluetooth.  With the dark paint on the saddlebag lids, I kept getting iPod/iPhone shutdowns due to excessive heat, so I wanted to keep the phone in a better location to extend it's life.  The best part with the CoolStream Bluetooth, is that you can connect any Bluetooth capable device, not just an Apple product (if you are so inclined).  This one was about $30 and although you can get ones out there for about $10, they are junk and overheat and burn up after a few uses (I know from personal experience).  This one has been flawless.
