2004 flhtcse
« on: May 31, 2017, 09:48:02 PM »

ive recently put a detachable tour pak rack on the  tour pak that came w my 2004 flhtcse,as I didn't have any interest in bolting it on every time I use it. does this tour pak not mount to the bike the same way the passenger  back rest does?..do I need to buy separate docking hardware for the removable set up? and if so would that be part #53804-06  ???

The removable tour pak mounts to the bike similarly to a backrest but requires the 4 point docking hardware.

The fitment for the part number you listed seems to exclude the Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide so I would check with your dealer. Maybe someone with your bike will chime in.

There are 6 points on contact that came stock on the 2005 FLHTCSE2 bikes, I assume you are looking for the same. The passenger back rest and the front "slider" mounts on the tour pak use the same contact points, those two are the forward most mounts. But they use different points of contact for the latching, one closer to forward for back rest and one almost to the rear of the saddle bags for the tour pak. In the picture below you can see the rearward most point lid height behind bag, that is the latching point for the tour pak, sorry, no picture of the other 2 points.

It will depend on which detachable tour pak rack you're using.  The "older" style rack that was used through (I think) 2004 used different detachable points than the rack that was offered from 2005-2008.   Post a pic of the detachable rack you're using and can be more specific as to what you're needing.

My 2004 came with the accessory tour pak, only used 4 mount points.  I think most of the parts/pieces are around somewhere yet....  I know where the pass back rest is hanging also.... not sure that was ever used.....
