. . . which one would you get?  An '05 or '06, and why?  Or, doesn't it matter?

I think first he'd start by putting the thread in the SEVR board. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Then I'd tell him to get the '06 Orange one.

Brian...a few things to consider between the 05 and 06.  First, which style graphics do you like?  The 06 is the only other CVO to have the eagle other than the SERG.  The 05 has a completly different graphics style.  The 06 has Brembo brakes..05 does not.  06 has the 240 rear...05 is 180.  The headwork is slightly different on the 06, but the difference is insignificant, IMO.  There is a little more chrome on the 06...grips, pegs, and a couple of more odds and ends.  The rake is slightly different on the 06.

Those are things that immediately come to mind.

Color:  Of course, I like the RED (Scarlet)...fell in love with my bike the first time I saw it, but it took me three months to finally buy it.  I've seen the Orange, and I personally like the red better because of the flake color.  But I am not a big orange fan...I have no orange clothing...the color just doesn't go well with my coloring.  Craig's Yellow is beautiful, and with a dark tan seat, it would add the touch it needs, IMO.

Two main things would make me buy the 06 over the 05...the SE graphic and flame pin striping, and the fat rear tire.  The fat rear tire makes the 06 sale for a little more, IMO.

No offense, Ed...the 05 is gorgeous too.

Hey, Terry, thanks for the reply!  I have the obnoxious SE graphic on the SERG, so that's not a necessity :huepfenlol2:, however, the fat rear tire and the Brembos are definitely a consideration on the '06.  Still, I like the silver motor on the '05 (just seems more "CVO" :nixweiss:) and the graphics are still very "SE," so it's sort of a toss-up for me, in a way. :-\

I agree the '06s seem to be going for a little more coin.  Not sure if that's just 'cause they're a year newer or due to the fat tire. :nixweiss:

I expect either one is a sweet ride! :huepfenjump3:

All other things being equal, it's the rear tire, Brian.  One of the main upgrades you see on the vrod forum is the wide tire kit add...it is an expensive propostion, particularly with the chrome swingarm.  Have you looked closely at either bike?  One other thing you may like, or not, is the flame theme pin stripe, like the SEEG's.

There is some debate, mostly from 05 owners, over which bike handles better, with the 05 folks saying theirs handle better because of the 180 rear.  In truth, it makes little, if any difference, particularly with the rake change in 06.

So, the '06 has less rake?  I was not aware of any change in the chassis between the years. :nixweiss:

No offense taken Terry. ;)

I'll throw my two cents in. I like the rear tire on the 06' but I think the best overall paint scheme is the 05' cherry. I like the O/B and the blue, the blue seems to be a little harder to find. I've seen them for sale but I've never seen one in person. I like the black motor and the black accents on the 06' and the upgraded brakes. But from an overall I'd buy an 05'. I agree with Terry on the 06' having a better resale because of the rear tire and brake system. The brakes on mine work fine, IMO, and I can put a 200 rear tire on without a problem if needed.

Funny but the reasons Terry likes his 06 graphics are the same reason I like the 05'. All the paint colors need to be seen up close. There is a lot of detail in the paint on all of them.

V-rods seem to be very sensitive to paint scheme's. I've seen the same bike in different colors. Some look great and some are awful. But they make the overall look of the bike look bad. Tough to explain, it's not like a bad color on a Fat Boy or a Road King. I think it's because the frame rails are right out there the color choice is important to help the look of the design and vise versa, they accent each other. Just my opinion.

I love the look of Ken's Night Rod, the red line rims and the lack of chrome looks impressive. You really can't go wrong with the 05' or 06'. Both are beautiful and both have a lot of power and are a blast to ride. Look forward to seeing what you decide.

06's suck.  ::)

Have a nice day,  :huepfenlol2:
Ed

Damn that is a good looking 05' down there, right down there, that's it.  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Don't start this "sumtin" chit.  You started this thread.  If you didn't want to talk about a potential bike Gary should have never moved your thread.

. . . which one would you get?  An '05 or '06, and why?  Or, doesn't it matter?

The Blue 05 SEVROD with the turbo on it for sale on our site here is what you want IMHO

Would have to be the fastest H-D on the site hands down.

I was actually hoping to talk about motorcycles tonight is why I logged onto this particular thread and I end up watching a bunch of 50 somethings play in the sandbox on Romper Room instead with Miss Joe being one of the moderators.

Why don't you kids run along now, it's adult time

It made my back hurt because the sumbitch had so much power it about snapped me in 1/2 when I wicked up the throttle. I left Beagle so far in the dust on California S2 between Anza and Ocotillo Wells he thought the Aliens had abducted me. It was like I vanished in thin air. And truth be told Don, the only reason I got rid of that bike is that it wasn't comfortable. I've said it before, any V-Rod is for 6 footers and under.

Quit making me laugh when I'm on the phone dammit!

Since I'm not so tall I've seemed to fit on them pretty well the times I've had the opportunity.  TC's was best though.  He and I must have close enough to same arm length and other fitments that his bike could've been something I set up for myself.  Really fun ride for the short little stretch I took it out on.  Of course I never got it much over 55 or so so can't speak to performance at all....

The Red 05 CVO of course!  They painted the headlight on the 06.And chromed the radiator Shroud. Which does not flow as good as the Color matched one on the 05. Imho. And , I do believe that the 05 handles better! I have never rode a 06. But have read countless posts on Vrodforums about the handling of the 06. I have had mine to 135 Mph with no handling issues. Except feeling like I was going to blown off of the bike! 1st gear= 60 Mph / 2nd = 90 / 3rd = 115 / 4th = 125 / 5th = 135 AND STILL PULLING! And this was 2 up!
The Vrod is a fun bike to ride for about 45 Mins. Then I need to stop and rest a while. Rolling Burnout = 75' long / Makes you dizzy!
Whichever one you choose. I am sure you will be happy with it. If you want a Vrod. Read everything you can on 1130cc.com . (formerly Vrodforums)

My ownership position...

Meaning you're thinking of getting an 08?
The brakes and the new clutch action look intriguing, that plus 5 gallons .......

The position I have is this one...if both models where available at the time I purchased I would have strongly considered the 08 model.  Vast improvements since mine and some standard.  Just some thoughts...I have no thought to selling mine and getting one, just thoughts.
