Title: Niagara Falls Canada
Post by: D-N-D on June 29, 2016, 06:19:35 AM
Ten days ago we had a Group of 14 Bikes go to Niagara Falls Canada from Pennsylvania ( Philadelphia Area ) we got there @ 7:00 pm on Thursday and left on Saturday @ 9:00 am. When we got to our bikes @ around 7:00 am Saturday my friends wife's bike was gone we stayed @ the Courtyard Marriott and they had cameras everywhere. This bike was not the most expensive bike with our group seemed like it was a target for some reason or another ?. The hotel called Niagara Regional Police and they filed a report and gave her the paper work she needed to get back over the border since her pass port was on the bike. The hotel called 2 hours later said they had it on video turned it over to police they are not aloud to tell you very much because it's a police matter now but they said @ 5:05 am on Saturday a Trailer pulled up and the bike was put on and a second car SUV block the camera from getting the plate # ?? all with in 10 yards of the main entrance to the hotel. Please when traveling keep in mind that there are BIKE Thieves out there and keep all important papers and items with you. We all know we will never see that bike again !!!.

Sorry to hear that happened.  I know from experience that it is a gut wrenching feeling when you walk up and a bike is gone.

Can you post a picture of the stolen bike?

I had a bike stolen a number of years ago and it is a small world.  Long, drawn out story but it was found in the next state by spreading word of mouth.

My best friends brother had a bike stolen several years ago.  A custom chopper that he had insured for a declared value.  His insurance company claimed it was not stolen and he was trying to scam them.  He had used this insurance company for years for everything.  His house, cars, other bikes, etc.  He had never had a claim.  He sued his insurance company.  The very day he and his insurance company were heading to court, the Milwaukee police found his bike and many others in a inner city chop shop.  (He lives about 80 miles from Milwaukee...)  True story...

I had a not-so-fun experience with both the insurance company and the local police when mine was stolen.  That's the "long, drawn out story" part.  Never a good thing when something like this happens.

Maybe 15 years ago had a really nice blue and white Fatboy stolen.  The bike was up for sale at the time.  Supposedly interested guy got on it for a test ride and simply rode away never to be seen again.  The car he arrived in for the test drive and left at the curb was a rental that had been acquired with a stolen credit card.

Insurance company initially denied the claim on the stolen bike.  Made the argument that because I had handed the guy the keys the bike wasn't technically stolen.  Took 8 months, a lawyer and a rep from the State Insurance Commission to finally get them to pay up.

Hate to hear stories such as this. I know that feeling ya get when you go out to mount yer bike and it's gone. I had a 1983 cb1100f stolen in Houston TX.

Hope the thieves get what they deserve.   :rifle:

That really sucks. And by the sounds of it, that bike was on an order list.

There's probably a same make/model/color bike up there recently in a wreck.

Sorry about your loss.  Does anyone use the FIN locator?  Seems like a good idea..

So far so good. I have had 1 false report from it. It did come in handy when the bike was at the dealer for some work. Compensator replace and belt replace. Dealer charges twice to remove and replace the inner/outer primary. I had a report for every time the tech was on the job. Long story there. Also know that the bike was running pretty well when they test rode it. 0-59 was pretty darn quick!

What a great way for some lousy punk thieves to try to ruin your weekend.  It sounds like they knew the layout of the hotel well enough to block the video...if that's what really happened.  Nowadays, it wouldn't surprise me if there was an employee at the hotel that was splitting the gains from the thefts in their lot.
Thieves like that will never have much in this life, and I can assure you they will get no enjoyment the next life.  This is as close as they'll get to paradise unless they change their ways.  Small consolation, I know.
Hopefully, you're insurance company will come through for you guys.  Sorry for the loss.

Thievery is pretty much a zero overhead enterprise Harry - provided you don't get caught of course... Stealing somebody's scoot is truly poor ju-ju and perhaps the cosmos will provide some payback for the misdeed. My brother-in-law had his family Tahoe stolen in the same area a few years ago, with most of their stuff inside.
