The single bike carrier looks alot like the bike in a bag trailer.

That's a lot of money for an erector set?  It may be a fine piece of equipment.  But I'd cringe a bit putting such nice (and expensive) bikes as are common here on something that looks so much like a toy trailer.

Steve,
What is your intended purpose w/this trailer? I wouldn't want to use it for long distance (any further then it would take to get the bike to shop if it were broke down). Looking at the specs (weight capacity) it should be alright, but not sure I'd feel comfortable w/using it for any distance. :nixweiss:

Especially with the standard 9" wheels that it comes with.  The upgraded 12" aren't much better, IMO.  I would think that thing would bounce all over the place on any kind of a rough road.   :nixweiss: :nervous:

I passed one similar to this one on I95 last week. It was all over the place. The guy was pulling a nice looking chopper in the middle lane. I couldn't wait to get around him.

I would question any product that suggests that your wife  or girl friend is going to hall it out of the explorer assemble it AND load and properly tie down the bike. That is obveasly BS at least at every home I know of. :-\ ??? ;D

My thought was to and from dealer for service.  About 45 miles each way.

Still only if the bike was broken down and I couldn't ride it, and I would be nervous all the way there. Personally just doesn't look sturdy enough for me. :nervous: Plus you know you can't believe everything you see on the internet. ;D

So Steve you getting into that whole Harley thing You thinks you have to have a Trailer uh!  ;D  They don't break down all the time. You been reading too many of Howie's posts.

I still would be nervous as One NO FENDERS all that road junk coming off the road and slinging against the bike.  It just doesn't look sturdy enough for me either.  I had a blow out running 70mph and my trailer whip back and forth and finally quit when I was able to slow down.  Just glad I invested into a Wheel-Dock and good Ties. Just not much on the little tires carrying a 1000lbs.  Just my 2¢.

Problem is bumming a ride back from dropping of the bike for service and picking it up again.
The dealers are all 30-50 miles away.
My "old" dealer was less than 10 minutes from the house.  I had plenty of option for a ride then.

My dealers, 100 miles away, do the pick-up and drop off thing.  I didn't even know about it until I asked, and he said, (all sly like), "oh yea! we do that all the time for folks who are out of town.  It's just part of the service..."

That saves me from ever having to drop anything off...  I jsut have to be home to send it off and get it back...

Steve,
Maybe you can do like I do. Schedule services, get your bike there when they open, have it serviced that day, and ride it home that evening. Loose one day of work and get to ride back to and from shop.

I have a hard time withy the 65 mph test... I have had many bike trailers over the years, all had suspension (unlike this one) and I always had the bike try to bounce off when I hit a big bump.

This traier is a rigid for argument sake.. too much of a risk to put my CVO on a rigid!

I agree with the other guys... if the dealer wants your business they will help you out, they may even trailer it there for you!

My bike has been broken down probably more than most, but only had to trailer it anywhere twice.  Once - in a box truck that you know about from Nelson to the East Coast.  Once, on the most rickety hand made wooden trailer no side anythings and you know, for that trip it worked.  Not my first choice, but it was what was available.  I'd hope you never need to trailer it anywhere.  And you know you don't need to use the dealer, right?  What about a good reliable inde in your neighborhood?  And we have folks who will pick up bikes and move them to destination for only $75.  The couple of times in a life time that you need it, cheaper than owning anything at all.  Just my .02 cents.

The answer is plain young grasshopper you must buy a new home next door to a Harley shop. then you will save the cost of a trailer and all associated costs of transport. Your very welcome IT's WHAT I DO ;D
