06 SG Tranny cover bolts loose
« on: September 12, 2009, 03:19:49 PM »

Went out side a couple of days ago and their was a puddle of Redline ShockProof under the tranny. I felt the plug and it was dry. I put it on the rack and all three of the 5/16X18X1 3/16 bolts, the ones that are on the bottom of the tranny cover, also the ones that hold the exhaust support  bracket to the bike were backed out about a 1/4 inch, and one was missing. This is my leak and now it is fixed, well almost I have one more small cover bolt to put in but I am on break, maybe for the day.
My wife's SG awhile back had a cracked exhaust support bracket. I think this is what caused it to crack. The bolts loosened and between riding several thousand miles with the vibration that goes along with it is likely the culprit. Oh Well, maybe one day HD will learn to put loctite on more bolts.
