Just an FYI - The Zumo firmware will only read 1000 songs on a card. Not sure how many a 8GB card will hold, but if you go over the 1k limit you probably will not be able to play them all.

No bellbottoms, but when my mom was throwing out some stuff, she found a pair of my platform shoes that I wore in the very early 70's...jeez, like at 6'4" I needed another 2" platforms....LOL...some of the crap that we wore in the 70's....not that I remember much of it....

   

Oh yea, had plenty of those platform shoes. So many that I once after playing the "PPP" game before dressing put on mismatch shoes. They were both black, but different.

I have some 2 gig SD cards & 1 - 4 gig.  Takes the Zumo a couple of minutes (or more) to read the 4 gig (about 500 songs on it).  The 2 gig cards read a lot quicker (300 songs on each, roughly).

Sounds like I don't need the 8GB in the Zumo. Will 8GB work in my camera? I have a 1GB in that. I can just swap them if it'll work in the camera.

As long as your camera uses SD cards, it should work. 

I bought the 4 gig card first, took freakin' forever for it to load, so bought 2 gig cards afterwards.  They will easily hold 400 songs (or more).

2 gig cards are about $20 now.  Memory is cheap.

Only reason would be to store routes/pictures/etc on. Unfortunately w/the newest version of firmwares it will only read 1k songs, but on the bright side it was only 500.

What you can do to make it read them faster is to put the songs in folders of about 75 songs/folder. This will not increase the max number of songs (1k) that it will hold, but will make it read them faster.

Just split your tunes up into different playlists of less than 1,000 each and it works just fine.

For me that's plenty of songs. By the time all those songs have played I've either stopped for a break (at which time I could switch cards) or quit riding for the day.

Not the Zumo thread, but since we are on the subject - is there a way to make it say the street names/road names for the next turn instead of just 'turn in 400 feet'?
