Just wondering what some of you use for a seat pad. I am doing more long trips and could use a little more comfort and cushion after several hours in the saddle. I was looking at the Pro Pad maker of gel seat with sheepskin cover. To me that seems like a good product, but reviews are mixed on it.
So any good recommendations?
Thanks

We use the Airhawk and it sure beats sitting on a stock seat all day. Takes a little bit to get the right amount of air in it and it will sit you up a little higher in the saddle.

I heard the gel pads are hot to sit on, especially if left in the sun. The medium Airhawk is the way to go. You won't be sorry. You could also put a sheep skin over top of that if you have long legs. Check Alaska Leather for the sheep skin.

I couldn't ride 150 miles without my ass burning before I shipped my seat off to MeanCityCycles in Boone, NC for a memory foam mod. I put over 3k on it in 9 days last week and did a 630 mile day. Really helped a lot. At the end of our days we spent a lot of time visiting and checking out the areas we were in. Nice to not be completely wiped after all those miles in the saddle.

Had Pro Pad gel with sheepskin. Didn't work worth cr4p.
Got an Airhawk. Can ride all day with it.

HD Now also sells a version of the Airhawk for Passenger and rider or a complete seat. They call it Zeppelin.
I have heard some dealers will let you test one out.

Thanks for the suggestions :2vrolijk_21:
At this time I want to keep my stock seat and just add something for comfort on those long rides, especially on hot days

FWIW, I've got his 'n her Pro-Pad inserts installed in the seat (H-D R/K Classic Touring seat..NLA, but I have a BNITB spare) on my FLHRCI. I had them installed at Sturgis in '06 by ProPad's upolsterer during a "Rally Special" promotion. The stock MILSCO seat padding was too soft after about an hour, and your butt sank to the seat pan. The Pro-Pad inserts aren't hot in the summer, nor cold in the winter and they kept the "stock" seat look and made the seat much more comfy and much more suited for the long haul. Their proprietary leather seat was mounted on a stool and not only looked great, but was extremely comfortable as well. I tried everything BUT their top seat pads, but can't imagine they're not comfortable. The cost was not prohibitive either. Highly recommended!
I've used the H-D P&A Hammock suspended his n' her's heated seat on my last two baggers: "11 FLHTK and the '13 FLHTCUSE8 (standard equipment0 and they are very comfy, albeit extremely pricy, as well. Can't beat the heat!

I had gel put into my stock seat at Daytona last year by Astech. Very happy with the results.

Just rode 1000 miles in two days and the gel pad did not work. Going for one the air ones..

Jesse - I emailed MeanCityCycles a few weeks back about having my seat rebuilt over the winter and possibly lowered a bit. The response was they can't do anything with a stock CVO seat. Could just be my '13 Ultra seat with heat or certain models though.

Yep no CVO seats. I use a 1 piece reduced reach seat they modded on long trips. I do 6-700 mile days now without a hitch.

Too bad on this... It was your recommendation that had me investigate this firm. Not really unhappy with my stock seat, just thought maybe it could be improved. I may consider a change to get something customized but it's not a high priority now.

I hear ya. I only use my stock seat around town and on short rides. We always add the tour pak, 1 piece seat, and riders backrest for longer rides.

This is probably a little too late in the day for this thread, but I had my stock 14 CVO Limited seat lowered by about an inch. The local dealer (Barrie, Ontario - north of Toronto) has a seat guy that was able to modify the innards while keeping the heat. It works great... although I would love to have a low profile seat with both air bladders and heat.
