I have been searching for the thread posted sometime back regarding installing an aux jack in the rear of the HK radio for Garmin, can anyone help? Looking for someone to do the install of the aux plug,, Thanks guys,, God Bless, and ride safe!!

It is an easy modification to do if you are handy with this sort of thing. The worst part is removing the radio as the bolts that hold it in are not easy to access unless you have the right tool.
You might want to check locally for a TV or electronics repair store and see if they will do it for you. Just print the directions out and bring them when you ask.

Great idea!!!
I think the only change I would make is to change the plug over to one that would be moisture proof and one that provides a greater degree of connectivity. After all, you don't really want to be taking the front of the fairing off more than you want do you?

I just did the mod, 2 days ago. Works asadvertised the hardest part for me was useing that knife, I couldnt see s^&*
get glasses. No more wires in the front :2vrolijk_21:

I performed this modification to my radio and i have reduced volume out of my left speaker when using the front aux jack or the rear aux jack compared to playing the radio or a CD. The volume out of the right speaker is about twice the volume as the left. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem.

It's not uncommon to overheat the solder pads and actually partially disconnect them from the board trace. This would result in low or no volume.
another common defect we see is people actually damaging the PCB when removing the faceplate. This would also have the effect of low or no volume.
Also be sure you did not short the left speaker connector to ground inside the new aux plug in the rear.

People that I have talked to about this say great things about Iron Cross Radio. I did my 04 radio with a friend with no problems at all and I am very happy with the results. HD Dude gives great directions here. With the new HK radios, I'd give the guys at Iron Horse a call and just let them do it. I hear their turn around time is very fast too.

I'm working on an 03 and want to know if this Mod will work on it as well? or does the 03 radio already have a port on the back?
