Would like some input on what others are using on top of their luggage rack for more storage on extended trips. I have been using a Kuryakyn bag, but have been looking at the Dekker Suprerme, for a little more room. Those of you that are using the Dekker Supreme, how do you like it? Do they keep their shape with the foam liner removed? How convenient are they to carry into the motel room?

I use a yellow Orlied waterproof bag. You can find them at Aerostich in Duluth. MN.
Great, easy to pack, 100% waterproof, and the yellow helps cagers see me from behind.

I like the dekker supreme. Once you take the foam liners out it pretty much looses it's form. It does give you alot more room once removed.They also have a lifetime warranty & I had mine replaced because it ripped. Just keep your receipt. Looks to me like roadready bags have the same kind of attaching straps as T bags! I've never seen roadready bags so I can't give you an opinion on them.T bags are for sale thru J&P Cycles & have a big display in Daytona.

But, the Roadready bags work great...had one on my '06 SEUC and really liked it. And they really are waterPROOF.
I've used the Harley one linked above...it's a very functional piece. Easy to attach, easy to carry, and offers as much storage as you really need to be putting up there. I try to keep light things in the rack bag.

I just bought the H-D tour pack luggage. Fits nice, looks good and plenty of storage.

Yep...just before we went up last year. Judi and I went for a ride and some of the roads were still blocked off from debris/mud down by the river.
You got it covered with that bag though... ;)

I own the HD bag and it works well however the fabric has developed large blisters in several places, seems like the glue that holds the fabric to the liner has let go. Of course it was just out of warranty and HD said too bad. :thumbsdown:

I've got the Harley Tourpak bag too, and I'm running into issues where the inner plastic shell is cracking where it rests on the rack. I'm getting ready to bring it in and see what they say. :'(

I'm using the H-D tour pack also. No problems with mine, oh wait it's in warranty till August :nervous: But it does look good with eazy mount and dismount. :nixweiss:

Hey folks...think I'll throw in on this diddy. I use the Gran Tour Bag from Kuryakyn. Lots of room and fits on top of our leather tour pak. http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/696/Ultra-Tour-Bag :2vrolijk_21:
The quality is very good, but it is a bit heavy empty. We have a softsided bag for short trips.
Hope you find what you like. Please let us know what you decide to do and why.

I've tried all different bags and gave up..........bought a Bushtec have never had a
problem since! Oh, and the bike is NOT top heavy! :-)

I can only travel each summer for two weeks at a time, and for the wife and I, we have plenty of storage for that amount of time. Apparently you are able to travel for a lot longer time periods. If I were going to travel for a month or two, I would opt for the trailer also. When I pack for a two week trip, I just leave the kitchen sink at home, and use the facilities that the motel has that we are staying. I did decide to buy the luggage bag from H.D. to store some of the lighter items. I do not think another 15lbs on the rack is going to be a problem. ;D

Not trying to cause any arguments, but your posting did not address my original posting, so I will chime in with my thoughts on towing a trailer.. I personally will never pull a trailer with my bike, and if my bike runs under it's own power, it will never be "transported" in a trailer. I have been riding motorcycles since 1967, and have ridden in everything from snow in the Colorado rockies in mid May, to Key West Florida in the middle of August. And yes I too have been in well below 20 degree weather, and also well over 100 degrees. I have been in most states--- minus two or three. I have ridden somewhere around 250 thousand miles, and have done vacations on the bike almost every summer in my adult life. To each his own (and I have NO problem with those that pull trailers), but for me, we pack light, and enjoy riding without anything attached to my back bumper. We have found that it does not take much in the way of clothing for a two week trip. We take clothes that are getting old. Discard them when dirty, and always pick up new ones when needed at the nearest H.D. dealer. We never take chaps, as they take up too much room, and with a fairing with lowers, I have never missed them. Our leather jackets can easily be strapped on the bike when not being worn. Again, I am not judging you or others that tow, but simply stating my personal thoughts on a matter that you brought up. Ride safe! :2vrolijk_21:

in Germany a trailer is not really an option as motorcycles with trailers are limited to a max speed of 60 km/h (37,5 mph) so only very few are in use over here, mainly with the Goldwing community.
We do trips up to 4 weeks two up and when we do so one saddlebag is for spare parts and tools only, the other one contains spare clothes, tour pack is empty and reserved for helmets, zumo, jackets on stopovers or a really hot day and all other luggage including pc is in the bag. Usually once in a week we find a friendly hotel doing the laundry overnight and after around 2 weeks we send back some of it by mail as we usually buy some t-shirts and other stuff here or there. Still we always bring back some unused t-shirts so evidently could pack even less ;)
We use all weather gear on those trips and that's comfortable between 25 and 95°F (more or less ;)).

Will this HD Bag PN :93300006 fit the air wing rack on a 2009 FLHTCUSE4. Seems all the videos and pictures that I have seen show them on an older style rack. Haven't seen anything that shows them on a later model Harley with the air wing rack.

I have had the Decker Supreme for 10 years. Made a custom polished aluminum box tubing rack that fit on the 06FLHTCUSE then traded it in for a Rio Red 11 at Laconia last year. I had to take and exacto knife to cut the portions of the foam front and back to make the bottom of the bag sit flush to the rack. It works fine and keeps its shape. Ed

I have been using the Tbags TL-4. It fits nicely on the std Harley tour pak rack and it provides quite a bit of storage space without being unruly huge. It also has wheels for easy use and a rain cover. I use it on every trip whether I need the extra space or not due to its ease of mounting and wheels to get my stuff into the hotel room.

Been looking at one of these for the Wide Glide cause I like that it comes in a tan color. They say it's waterproof but I'm not sure....

Hold the phone. I thought the bag I have been using was the Tbags TL-4. Dummy me, it's the Kuryakyn Grantraveler. It fits the Harley tour pak rack. It has wheels and a rain cover.
