Title: Change is a coming

Sounds like Harley has decided to embrace the Revolution engine even more.

Not surprised at all.  Revolution engine is designed to be able to have different front ends and rear sections attached to it.  Its a stressed member of the frame.  Its designed to be modular.  It would be great in a replacement sportster.

This is probably the reason why they are working 10 hr shifts and Saturday's at the engine plant!
My dealer said touring production is almost at a stand still in York?
Glad they are making new models!

HD needs to giddy up and put the Revolution Max in a bagger.

Harley has let the current Sportster die a slow painful death. Time to pull the plug and stop embarrassing themselves. The market is full of small, exciting entry level bikes for under $7,000. Why would someone buy that dinosaur? The used market is loaded with them and you can't hardly give them away. This revolution engine is very modern and competitive. A 150Hp engine in a NEW Sportster? Oh yeah! Price it in-line with comparable foreign models? You got my attention!! I may be a Grandpa but I have NO interest in $40,000 Geezer Glides. One more thing... make it chain final drive, Please?

I hope the Sportster gets the new engine but no beginning rider, Typical Sportster buyer, needs 150HP. I have always bought cars, trucks, bikes, boats etc with whatever the biggest engine available but this would be scary with a 100# young girl onboard.

I for one am glad they are starting a hole new line of motorcycles! I just hope they don't price themselves
out of the market!

Price and quality will make or break these new models. There are so many affordable bikes out right now at price points anybody (with a job) can afford. The current Sportster is the most overpriced boat anchor on the market right now.  That bike should sticker at $6,000 max! They haven't stuck a dime into that machine in years so R & D costs have been $0.0 for decades. Machines and tooling were paid off back during the Bush (Senior) Administration. It has become a joke. The Pan America is a totally cool modern bike and the pictures of some of the proposed future bikes are very exciting. This actually might get some riders into Harley dealerships! I love it.

The solution for a beginning rider is to start out using “Rain Mode” rather than one of the more aggressive choices.  150 hp would be a go-getter in such a light bike.  I have a Ducati Monster that has 150 hp, and it’s all I want.  Looking forward to seeing what HD has come up with on this bike…hopefully mono shock rear suspension, aluminum frame that incorporates the engine, upside down front forks, radial front brakes, etc.  Although I’m not too giddy about that high exhaust pipe…with a cat, I can only imagine how hot that’ll get.
