Title: New Battery
Post by: rayson56 on October 13, 2021, 12:51:43 PM
I ordered a replacement battery today. My original battery is getting a little weak after 4 years and almost 55,000 miles. I'm going to try the
Yuasa GYZ32HL Battery. They say it has 500 CCA's and it has really good reviews. Amazon has it on sale for $159 and it is supposedly in stock. So, as they say, we'll see!

I'd be careful on Amazon whether it is a real Yuasa or a China knock off - yes, that happens just google it to find out.  My Dad thought he was saving by getting a "Yuasa" battery on Amazon, it didn't last a year and there's no warranty.

I have the same battery being delivered today from JP Cycles.

The problem with batteries is you never know how long that "new" battery has been sitting on some warehouse shelf when you bought it. In as little as 6 weeks the plates in an inactive battery start to sulfate. I bought a brand new battery from my stealership and it lasted 10 months! I rifled through my folder of receipts and returned it to the dealer (1 year warranty). The replacement now has 5 years on it and she's cooked. I'll call that one a win. I hope you get 5 years out of your new Yuasa.

I understand the "Buyer Beware" scenario and I'll most definitely check the voltage and date code when it arrives, but other than that it should be nothing short of a great battery......I hope  ;)

Thanks for the comments guys.

I just received my Yuasa battery from Amazon, via Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernadino, Ca. and curiosity had the best of me from some negative/buyer beware comments, so I immediately checked the voltage and I'm happy to report that the initial results are great. Hopefully my new battery will live a long and healthy life! LOL

Same place I got the one for my '15 a few years ago. I bought right from them. No issues with it.

I know of folks that have that Yuasa battery and are very pleased with it.

It was only a couple of decades ago that we were replacing the battery every year as a preventative measure.  And didn't they cost more back then?

I've been doing a lot of research on electric trucks and the battery technology for electric vehicles have came a long way in the past 18 months or so.

Yeah I remember JC, there was always that guy that got several years out of his battery while the rest of us were lucky to get 2 years out of ours. And of coarse that was before battery tenders too.

On my Yuasa note, while my battery tested great, when I pulled it out of the box there was damage to the case. They've got it sorted out now and I'm waiting for the mailman.

I received my replacement Yuasa a couple of days ago in perfect condition and with 12.9 volts out of the box from Chaparral. It's installed and ready to go! One less thing to worry about for a while.

Bought a "Canadian Tire ' battery for my wife's bike because of an on-the-road failure on a Sunday......2 years and it's toast.

Did yours have this much damage to the case?  Amazing for what they cost that they don't package them better...

My buddy was stuck last sunday with a dead battery in his 2017 RGS. Motored over to Walmart Auto Center and found a compatible J Series powersports battery with 400 CCA for around a $100 bucks. Dropped it in and good to go. We'll see how long it lasts.

I get my batteries thru Batteries Plus, online for discount & local store nearby for pickup, I get the grey USA made Duracell & it has worked well for me in my FXSSTSSE3 Springer… https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/motorcycle/harley=davidson/cvo-softail-springer-fxstsse3/1584cc/2009#finder-box-top (https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/motorcycle/harley=davidson/cvo-softail-springer-fxstsse3/1584cc/2009#finder-box-top)

I recently had a new battery installed (unknown type) by a shop and while traveling had a HD dealer tell me I was having starting issues because the battery didn't have enough cca's. He was happy to put in a new HD battery for about $300 with labor. Sad part is starting still sucks when motor is hot.
