TTS/117
« on: February 26, 2017, 11:39:29 AM »

If things go somewhere correct today I should be ready to heat cycle a new 117 build this afternoon. TTS shows no base tune for the 117 in an 09. Would it be ok to use my 110 tune and change the displacement to 117 to heat cycle or does someone has a base 117 tune I could load till I can get the heat cycles done and to a tuner.

Cam timing and exhaust design makes the most difference between the 110 cal you have now in the bike and what it will take to get it right.
My suggestion is ALWAYS take your bike straight to the tuner to breakin rings and recalibrate fueling and timing (controlling temps and loads/rpms) for safe running.
There is no acceptable substitute IMO. 3-4 heat cycles and off to the tuner.
Old school break in thinking is dead!

Cam and exhaust didn't change. 110 tune was with 24D cams, V&H 2-1-2, and 58mm TB. So would the changing the displacement be close enough to get me those 3 or 4 heat cycles? Or do I need to just put it in the trailer and let the tuner get it running from 0

I think you would be ok. However I recommend you check with Steve at Fullsac or Steve Cole with TTS.  They will have the correct answer, not what I think.

Thank you for the replies. Bike didn't end up together today anyhow....some goofball must have had his head in the  :toilet: yesterday when he went and got gaskets because there wasn't any TB seals in the sack or on the list that I used to go get gaskets with. I'll give one of the Steves a call tomorrow and see there thought. Steve Cole might even have something for the 117 that is not showing up yet.

I'm curious how this turns out because that is basically the same setup I have...
