Opened up the cowling on the RG last night and had to remove the headlight trim ring. The owners manual states to pry the trim ring off...I'm saying to myself what about the paint. Anyone pried the trim ring off or is there a special tool? Can't imagine the abs plastic and paint holding up to that punishment.

Yes, there is a very special tool... Your fingers! Seriously, pry the bottom up first using your fingers. It should then pop out easily. Good luck.

What I do is to use a nylon pry bar (or a flat screwdriver, or your fingers) and push the tabs from the inside. That will free the trim without the risk of breaking them.

Two tabs on the bottom, two on the top.
