Exhaust
« on: November 26, 2011, 04:24:04 PM »

So i'm putting on a set of the Rinehart true duals and wondering if there is a market for the old pipes and mufflers. What is the set worth?

Definitely a market for the mufflers since they can be used with Fullsac baffles to maintain the stock look. As for the headpipe, sometimes you find someone who wants to cut it and remove the cat.

Here is a set of mufflers from an '11 SESG on Ebay--watch it and see how much he gets.

Also--search through the selling section on this forum.

Any idea what all that writing on the pipes has to say?
Maine has some stiff fines for loud exhausts these days.

Thanks
DR

It states that the muffler met EPA requirements as standard equipment on the bike. That is part of the reason the Fullsac option is popular. The first thing and inspector will look for is that EPA stamp.

Other reasons:

Performance

Sound

Cost

It'll be substantially the same as what's in this attachment.

If the muffler has been modified in any way, the stamp is worthless from a technical/legal standpoint.

Anyone in Maine ever gone to court or had an inspector look at the stamps on the mufflers??
Just wondering.
I got a "noise" ticket years ago in Hunt. Beach, Ca and just showed the judge a photo of my mufflers: case dismissed.

Most people don't even go to court and just pay the fine.
