Yeah sorry Keith that was Dwayne, my bad.

I nor no one else did a thing to my CVO today Phil, but I did go see some elk.

I saw one take a leak too, but it was not nearly as surprising as the leak mentioned previously.

Going to ride her over to the Smokey Mountains HOG rally, and do the poker run this am.  On the road by 06:30 so we can start the run at 0830.

Road a little this evening and since Miss Susan had an appointment I was on my own for dinner. After logging a few miles, I decided to stop by a little place in my hometown of Bluewell, WV called Lynn’s Drive Inn. Sitting there under an umbrella waiting for my two dogs and fries I got to thinking about the significance of this place in my own history. This little Drive Inn was started in 1950 by Ruck Hale and is named after one of his sons. My mom was working here around that time when she was approached by a dashing young lad named Dink Shrader and the rest as they say is history. Married in November 1952, my older brother came along in 1957, then an older sister in 1960, me in 1964 and my younger sister in 1976, which is about the time I was patrolling Bluewell on a ten speed and eating hotdogs under the trees along the parking lot of Lynn’s.

The trees are gone now along with Mom and Dad, my brother Dink and sister Tammy. I’m still here missing them and reminiscing about days gone by.

Well I’ve got to hit the road again, must have got some dust in my eye or something that I gotta blow out

Interesting little story there Shrader.

Put 218 miles on the CVO road glide for a poker run I did not win.  Then 109 miles on the Pan America.  Will be getting the 1000 mile service on the PAS today.  Hog Rally in the Smokys is good so far even though I didn't win the opening poker run.

Naw Mike

His bike ain't leaking, I put down oil on the cardboard under his bike. At least that's what was alluded too in the Valley.

I was almost hurt.....hurt that I didn't think about messing with him and putting something on his cardboard. Maybe a mix of oil , peanut butter and bloody mary?

Big Lew I do all the work on my bike, except headwork and tuning. It ain’t rocket science that some make it out to be. Now granted I’m just a parts changer but my OJT is making me more confident. I’m fairly up to speed on my 09 FLTRSE3, give me a call sometime and we’ll talk, I only give real world experience suggestions and not what I read on the internet. I was hoping to ride it to Birmingham next weekend but I’m not gonna sweat it. They got some road racing going on and I will be there one way or another.

I’m starting from scratch with the gearset, setting the endplay on the main drive gear, Baker has changed that tolerance and so should I. Everything looks good right now and was at a good stopping point today.

Enjoy the weekend folks I know I will

All that disassembly to get to the main drive gear. Replace a spacer to get endplay to spec, new bearings, new pulley spacer/oring, new main seal.

Fingers crossed

The install of my DD7 was 2 1/2 years ago and if you look at the main drive bore at 3 and 9 o’clock you’ll see three small marks where I pulled the main seal, my scoreboard. I really thought I had it solved the last time but here I am. That’s why I started from scratch, my notes said the endplay was .0015 on install which is well within the specs which is now .0005-.002 but something isn’t right. I used the white spacer(.102) on initial install, I now have a .100 spacer too.

I had to have the DD7 and I’m determined to make it work without leaks. Anyone got some ideas I'm all ears.

Think I found the root cause of the the leak. On the original setup I used the thinest spacer in the kit which was the white (.102) seems like the specs were .001-.003 then. I have in my notes it was set at .0015. Decided to check the endplay with the white spacer still installed, I was getting .0035-.004. with the same equipment.

You can only check endplay with just the main drive gear in the hole.
