Seems to me that is one person who should not be in a position of authority.. especially when the position he holds requires dealing with situations MUCH more stressful than Main Street traffic.  To turn this around and blame the MC operator was just plain wrong. Hopefully after the internal affairs probe he will have some desk time (at a minimum) to think about his actions.. The cop came off as man who needs anger management classes..

Not defending the cop at all, but this rider was also a total moron and did in fact precipitate the incident.  First the dumb azz, after riding the left lane marker for a block (splitting), jumps ahead and then rides the white line on the shoulder side of the lane.  That in itself is not correct positioning in the lane, unless of course he enjoys having cars join him in his little piece of real estate.  But the part that really makes no sense is hitting the brakes while the cars ahead of him are pulling away from him AND the cop is trying to merge into his lane behind him.  Unless of course he was trying to precipitate the whole thing.  With all the numb nuts running around these days looking to sue someone or just looking to get attention, I can't rule out anything.  Anyhow, I wouldn't want to be riding near either one of these guys.

Sure looked to me like the Cop knew he screwed up and was trying to turn it on the dude on the bike. Threatening him with a butt load of tickets then shaking his hand when he thought he was successful. Good thing it was on tape! :nixweiss:

Watch the reflection on the road ahead of the bike. It's the right hand turn signal from a car to the bike's left in the left lane.

If I'd not have known for sure if a car was ready to make a sudden dash for my lane I might have backed off to make room for him too.  Can't see the car so don't know for sure.  But a car was definitely signaling to occupy the space.  With that as a possiblility I can't knock the rider at all for either being all the way to the right or for backing off.  Both actions make space for a car whose intent he might not have been sure of.

And the cop was an ass.  Total ass.

The MC rider may not have been the best rider I've seen, but it's police officers like that, that give the good officers a bad name.  The officer hit the bike in the rear. He was following too closely.  Then, to polish it off, he acted very unprofessionally.  There are people in this world that the term "douche bag" was made for.

All one can say he's lucky he didn't get cuffed to the back of the cop car and dragged down the road to teach him a leason, like the taxi driver had done to him in South Africa by a copper and killed him. Any one hear of that one?

Real nice.  Cops, "Biggest gang in town"  what I saw was a gang member wearing his colors, commit an offence with the potential to cause serious injury, bully a MC rider so that he wouldn't have to look like the moron he was in front of the rest of his gang, and walk away scott free.  Up here North of the border it isn't uncommon for them to kick you in the face as well!  Oh yeah and we pay for that service as well.

Cop was an ass without a doubt. I think most cops are wimps that were bullied in their younger days and now enjoy hiding behind a badge to get back at the world. There sure are plenty of people with cameras nowadays that just love looking for trouble as well. I can say if it was me on the bike, I sure as hell wouldn't be kissing the cop's ass like he did ... any cop that comes up to me with attitude gets it right back from me whether they like it or not.

Douche Bag Cop is correct.  Whether the biker was not as correct or not,  If you get hit from behind, they are at FAULT, not you ..  I would have requested his supervisor , IMMEDIATELY

The bike rider was obviously a young guy and afraid to challenge the cop even though he knew the cop was wrong. I can't believe he didn't get off his bike and inspect for damages. I would have gone to jail that night for whatever trumped up charges that prick of a cop threw at me just to get a chance to show that video to his superiors.
