Title: 2017 SG 114 to Stage IV 117
Post by: JaronCVO on November 24, 2017, 01:50:09 AM
So I made the big move and upgraded to the 117. I don't have a first impression due to the weather. I do feel the HP is low, but my tuner said that HP will increase once broken in. Custom flash of the ECU along with the Dynojet Power Vision to increase rev-limiter and remove speed governor. Running V&H Power Duals w/ 4" Monstor Rounds Slip-ons gutted. Any thoughts on the HP?

Power is  likely attributed to the monster rounds- gutting them hurts power, increases noise.

FIRST choice would of been FULLSAC MX X-Pipe and FULLSAC CVO BAFFLES. Losing HP & TQ with your current exhaust set up

I am no professional, but I also never heard of that the HP thing before, once broken in.

Thank you for the info for the FULLSAC. Looks like I can now get the HD black polished heat shields.

I have an almost new set of tunable Supertrapp black Megashots 2:1:2, that would be fitting for your build, especially the price.

Nothing wrong with the PowerDuals, the gutted monster rounds are killing power...

'Recomend some slip-ons with 1.75 or 2.00 baffles,,, fullsac baffles in CVO cans are hard to beat,,, great value...

I'm attaching two charts taken from the 2018 SE catalog showing what Harley claims each Stage kit will provide on a CVO.  After looking at the Stage IV HP chart, I'm wondering what you were expecting for HP.  Looks like the Harley chart shows approximately 124 HP, versus your chart at 122.8 HP.  Btw, the Harley chart also shows significantly lower torque than your chart.  Did you substitute cams, or did you use the SE 8-515 that comes with the kit?

Click on the attachment for full size.

I'm using the 515 cam. C and A Customs used their tune. He flashed the ECU and used the Power Vision to raised the rev limiter. He was trying to remove the parade idle to get stronger pulls on the dyno. He tuned another CVO and was getting 127 whp. I kinda thought I was gonna see the same numbers. I'm over the HP numbers now, the bike runs great and is a lot of fun!
