131" M8
« on: November 15, 2016, 09:33:07 PM »

Seems I recall there may be a 131"  possible a bit later for the 2017  M8 . Did read about it a bit at the release of the new motors  but nothing was really set in stone as far as I know.  Curious if indeed there is any more chatter, or good info on the rumor. Matter of fact seems there  may have been a couple other upgrades in motor size. but once again nothing in stone at least at that time. Just curious if anyone in the know has anything they can share .  Sure there is some rumor, but would be nice to see something factual either way.
Thanks

"IF" the MoCo really decides to put an 131" M8 into a Road Glide, I might be tempted to actually by a new one!

But until then, I'll keep my 2009 CVO YELLOWBIRD!

Hey Happy, I had a few interweb sites bookmarked prior to the release.  Looking back through some of them, most were rumors with speculation of the size of the new motor at 107, 114 and up to 131 ci options.  Since the release of the new motor, nothing about the 131 opinion that I can find.  I'm not saying it's not out there, just not as of yet past the rumor stage.

yes it was prolly wishful thinking by some  who want  a large motor.
just the other day was at a dealer chatting to the owner, and there was mention of a 134" that may have been given some thought .

Everyone wish bigger , faster etc. but how many wanna pay 40K + for a bike, not so many. And for those that want bigger S&S is there with 124'' and monster 143'' (plus there are other co. that make big engines ) including HD 120 st and R ..so I think 107 and 114 with upgrade to 117 will stay a while. They might do something to 120 st or R, who knows.

The new 8 motor is a counter balanced motor. Why build a big one?
It can't do higher RPM.

What does "big" have to do with "rpms"??? If anything, having larger displacement allows you to produce more Trq & HP with lower rpms!!

Star Racing has said that it will produce a very streetable 150/150.  Who cares how high it revs??

That would make me seriously think about trading for a new Street Glide! (Or maybe adding a 3rd ride to my collection  :nixweiss: )
