Wheels 21" Front and 200mm rear on the SESG
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:53:30 PM »

Has anyone tried modified wheels on the SESG I am interested in putting Chrome 21 on the Front and going to the 200mm rear.

I contacted Hogpro and they said they have installed 200mm rear on 2009 SG on 17 x 6.5 rims, Had not installed a 21" on an SESG yet not sure of fit?

Then contacted Indy HD as they install 21" on the new bikes in their showroom. They said they could do it and also using an 18" 200mm on the rear but offered no guidance as to fitament.

Found a smokin deal on some RC Components wheels on Craigslist but hesitant to buy unless I know they'll work on the SESG?

I recently bought a 2010 tequila sunrise sesg. I bought a set of PM Riviera wheels, 21" front and 200 rear. Rear fit fine but the 21" front did not fit inside the fender. Had to go with the klock werks wrap around.

OK I stopped today at Carmel, In Harley Davidson I knew from a previous stop that they frequently install PM and RC Components 21" front and oversize rear wheels on the new bikes in their showroom.

Upon arrival I saw 2 bikes set up just as described. I had a brief conversation with the parts staff and this is what I was told:

They take off the factory fender and then drill out the rear mounting hole one size larger 3/8" then mount the 21" front reinstall the modified fender lifting the rear of the fender while tightening.

They are using Metzeler 880 tires as well. Seems I have read they expand less when hot than the Avon's?

He told me the 200 mm would fit on a 18 x 6" rim without modification. They offered to install the entire package for around 3700.00

Not sure about the price but the fact that they are confident enough to perform the work and warranty IMO said something about the quality of the information.

Still not 100% confident but heading in that direction

when they tried to mount my 21" front they said they did drill it out but i do not know what size they drilled it to. they mounted the fender after they drilled it and when they tried to mount the wheel they couldn't even get the axle in. hope the people u r dealing with know more than i have been told.
sorry i don't have any pictures.

Many people particularly the younger crowd seem to love the contrast Agitator wheels. Unfortunately
I a not among them :-(

Still old school and Going All Chrome is my preference!

That said on my last two bikes I went with Harley Davidson Wheels. Most recently Roadwinders while they were beautiful the day I installed them after 45 days the rear wheel started peeling chrome.

The reply from Harley was that since I installed them and not a dealer they were not covered?????

WTF over?  So Chrome peels from the Hub because it knows who installed it! Not because it was a manufacturing issue? Funny how there are links all over the web of people having this problem with Harley brad wheels. Guess they were all owner installation errors? Hmmm anyway lost all future wheel business from me and anyone willing to listen!

RC Components backs their wheels with a 7 year exchange replacement warranty. Now there is a company that understands that when your happy you tell a few people. However when you get screwed you tell everyone who will listen!!!!!

Well, I'm definitely not in the younger crowd and I've always liked the look of the contrast wheels.  That's one of the things that drew me to the SESG.  I think they look really  good on the spiced rum.  I saw the chrome agitators on a spiced rum recently and didn't care for the look at all.

See thats Why there are so many accesories out there! I liked the wheels on the 2009 SERG. Cannot say the Chrome Agitators do it for me either but then the are made by Harley so I wouldnt buy them anyway!

I knew from the first time I saw them in Sturgis that if I bought it I would have to change the wheels. The painted cowbells will need to go as well! All in due time

Here are the anticipated wheels of choice.
