More than 50% off for new goods is a price that's too good to pass up if you really want a six speed.  If you don't really care about the extra gear but are considering it just because it's cheap you'll probably be happier in the long run spending the money on something you really wanted.

I just picked up an old Road King with a Baker six speed. It shifts like a motocross bike.

Basically they are just two different ways to achieve the same thing.  The OD6 just adds an overdrive 6th gear to the gearbox, like the old SE 6 speed.  The DD6 changes the primary drive ratio to achieve the overdrive effect, and 6th gear is 1:1.  This is the approach that Harley copied for their current Cruise Drive 6 speed.

Either of the Baker boxes will be a big improvement over stock in terms of general operation and shift quality.  If you can get the OD6 at a really good price, I wouldn't hesitate.

X2 - Exactly. Truth be told, the 1:1 of the DD6 and the claimed increased efficiency of that design never provided a measurable increase in MPG over the original 5 speed, so I'd agree that with this kind of a deal, go with the OD6. For all intents and purposes, you'll never know the difference.
