It's been out a month or so.  I replaced mine on my 2014 due to P1019 code a month or two before the redesigned one came out on my own dime.  On HDforums there are a lot of people who had their pumps replaced as well.
On the 14-16's the pump ran all the time with a thermostat. The M8's and the redesigned twin cam pump  that just came out runs only when the temperature is at a certain degree with no thermostat as previously stated.

ON the Twin Cams it takes longer to install the new pump as it is a "kit" that besides the pump has some cooling lines that some say you have to take the lowers off for access to install.

Regardless of all that, the sorry SOB's sold all their junk ass pumps out of inventory before releasing the new pump.  So a lot of us will be changing the pump out again.  Did the same thing with the compensators in 2009-10..

A lot of loyalists come on here and complain as some of us bash the MOCO but crap like this is the reason why.

Yes again and again the consumer pays to correct Harley's design flaws.

So...is it best to go ahead and change out the pump on my '15 for this new, non thermostat model or just keep going?  I've not had any issues with mine but, as most of us can attest, probably should add "yet" to that statement.

Did your pump fail?

Did your pump fail?

Not yet, but came across the new pump on the HD forum and with all the gloom and doom about the stock aquarium pump I figured I would share it, looks like a lot more heavy duty then stock unit. I don't see the need to replace it as preventive maintenance yet, but maybe with double the mileage of my bike might be something for you thing about?

The waterpump on my 2015 SG failed a couple weeks ago while I was on a 3000 mile road trip.  The awesome team at Harley Davidson of Lake Charles, LA stayed after normal working hours to get me back on the road.  They informed me that they replaced the old unit with the new design.  I REALLY tested the installation on the 1200 mile jog back to Virginia Beach, VA and had no more issues.

Anyone have pics of a final install with the cover off? A dealer did mine while I was on the road over memorial day and left the cover off. When I went to put the cover on it wont fit. The hoses and wires were in the way. I looked at install instructions online and have the hoses in their right place now, but the wiring for the pump and fans looks like it is shown a couple of ways on the instruction sheet.
Thanks

Once my extended warranty is up I want to get rid of the water colder setup, remove my lowers, and install a oil cooler.

Good to know, rode mine some with temp. light in w/o knowing I had problem and hoping I did not hurt the engine by over heating it.

when you remove the coolers are you going to change out the heads to dry heads?

long term i suspect running wet heads dry with the voids where they are will eventually cause trouble.

just a thought.

I just road from Dallas to Peoria Illinois with my temp light on.  I have an oil temp gauge on a 2015 CVO,  my oil temp rose about 30 degrees.  I'm going to be buying the upgrade I suppose.   Mine acts like it could be a bad thermostat.
