Title: Well, I am certian I bought the right bike now!
Post by: kojack on June 16, 2014, 05:28:27 AM
Took my father in laws electra glide standard to its appointment at the local dealer.  Its an hr drive.  Comparing my road glide to the electra platform I noticed a few things. 1. Stability,  my RG is way more stable and easy to move around,  and much nicer on the road all around. 2. space.  I am only 5'8" tall and the EG felt really really cramped where I have room to move around and etc on my RG.  The windshield and fairing is not right up on top of you.  3.  This is not really fair as I have a fully worked motor,  but.....power.  His is a completely stock 96",  mine is a built 95".  the difference is MAJOR.  I went to pull around a car to pass, rolled on the throttle and pegged it to even feel acceleration.  Mine will just jump by the vehicle im passing with a flick of the throttle.  There is that much difference.  Number 3 is not a fair comparison like I said,  but something I had to mention.

The RG platform is the best Harley made,  and they discontinued it?  WOW.

i'm only 5'4'' and i agree with the assessment of the fairing being in your face.  i much prefer the open feel of the rg.

it will be back, it's only a temporary production halt.  not 'discontinued'.....

I think the sales people used that line as FUD to try and scare riders into snapping up the remaining RG's and make a sale.

Ha ha,  this is my opinion...I bought mine because there was no 2001 serg here in town.  So I wanted something different.  best purchase made!

I agree with the TR being "mobetta"  :drink:

Usually shorter riders are not a fan of them. I was thinking they were more for the tall folks. BWTFDIK

anyhow I'm kinda partial to them as I ride one, and my backup bike is a road glide too. hmmmmm I'm wondering which one is the backup bike.

I prefer the fairing close to me. I am only 5'6" never liked the spaced out "cockpit" of the RG. Having said that, there is way too much I like this and it's the best and mine is better on this forum so I am not saying my bike is better, just fits me better. I think the RG is a neat bike and a great addition to the touring line. I like the 09 best probably.

I'm sorry yer short and ride a chick bike. If everyone was the same, wouldn't it be boring.

Street glides a chick bike now? News to me. I never bashed the road glide in my post. It's unfortunate that this forum has so many condescending posts. Can't log in without getting slammed any more. I hope you find happiness. Rubber side down.

Let's see,  that post was edited meaning the author had two chances to be polite and still failed.

Here's Christine, a very cool "chick" riding her original Street Glide,  the SEEG.  She's made every West Coast GTG since 2005 and since I rode mostly sweep on the last one, I can attest she rides better than some of the "men."  I'd let her ride my SERG, anytime.   :coolblue:

Not my intention when I started this post.  I made it too state my opinion on the two bikes.  I love both bikes.  I just like the extra space on my rg.  the sportster is the chick bike.  I call it the secret bike,  strong enough for a man but made for a woman.

Jswerve and GregKhougaz chill, being politically correct is not one of TN's best traits.
I think Hogbreath nailed it above. (think about it)
Knowing TN is like riding with him, every day is an adventure.
Come to Maggie Valley and you will understand.
We look forward to it and having a great time when he's around.
