Low RPM/Speed vibrations
« on: February 09, 2006, 06:59:11 PM »

I'm running a 05 SEEG with Rinehart Pipes with the HD 6 speed and since I got the 5000 mile service the bike seems to have an excess vibration in 2nd and 3rd gears when she is around 1900 - 2100 RPM running 17 to 25 MPH. The odd part is this vibration/thrashing seems to be coming up through the fairing. Any one else had this experience?

Thanks

Jemerick,

The first thing I would check is the front lower motor mount, which has been problematic for many folks (see this thread http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1137725939/0 ).

I'll bet the primary chain or the drive belt is too tight.  That's the number one reason for doing your own service. You know what has been done, how it was done, and if there is a problem, you'll have an idea of where the problem might be.

Thanks Jerry and interesting enough at 5000 they also replaced the rear header for the Reinharts...cracked where the header joined the moter brace.

i had a vibration like that once.
it turned out the exhaust hanger under the tranny was broken.
it was a bitch to replace it.
