First off thanks to all who added their input on routes on our trip. Being this was our first trip on the bike to Colorado all your help and updates on the color changes sure paid off for us.
We orginally had 11 days planned but as we watched the weather it just didn't make good sense but to cut it back to 9 days.
We did start this trip with the plan of rain by starting out with a washed and waxed bike...

Looped through Kansas on the way to make a trip through Greensburg. Spend some time here as a kid through the summer. My Grandparents operated this elevator and this was the summer playground for me and my cousins growing up. The tornado that wiped out Greensburg also took out the old house that used to be there. Sure some fond memories of there.

We made it through Kansas and at this sign put smiles on our faces

Ran into a little rain just outside of Denver but it didn't last long and we got all set up in the KOA in Estes Park.
-
Estes Park is a pretty neat town and we had done a little better research we would have known the 2 days we were there was some sort of a elk bulging event going on. Lots of people but also lots of elk running around in town. As we laid in the tent at night you could hear the elk.

Our first trip into Rocky Mountain National Park we took Old Fall River Road. This is a dirt road that works its way up to the summit of Trail Ridge Road. The road wasn't to bad except for the switchbacks and they took picking a path through them as you entered them. Some area were rutted up pretty bad. I am sure more than one person looked at us and thought look at those idiot's on a motorcycle.
-
More dirt..lol
Honestly if dirt doesn't bother you and you have the chance to ride or dive this road the views are amazing

Worked our way back to camp along Trail Ridge Road.

Nice warm fire that night

Ok enough of the narrative and lets find fall colors

From there we started working out way home via the Million Dollar Highway. Little over 3000 miles by the time we got home and only hit rains one more time. Have a huge amount of pics but I probably have went well over my space on this topic.
-
I did run across one other pic that shows the wifes feeling about having to come home. Just don't tell her I posted it...lol.

Looks and sounds like a good ride, thanks for sharing.
I'm partial to the FLTRSE3 myself, looking good. :2vrolijk_21:

Thank you TN.
We had a great time and are looking at a return trip to do some of the things we just ran out of time to do. 550 really needs a few days on it for us to stop and explore. Riding it with the trailer took a little of the fun out of it.
I am very partial to them too. Only bike I have ever owned that I don't plan on ever getting rid of. Old girl may not be the slickest one around, but for 95,000 on her she don't look bad... :bananarock:

Thank you Jock.
I have to figure out how to load more than 1 picture in a post.

To conduct that task you would need to place your photo on a photo hosting site or use the Tapatalk app.

Super nice. Cant imagine what it looked like in person.
-
Great report and photos! Kudos to you for going the dirt road route!

Thanks all for the comments. We are already looking at what we missed and what places we will try to hit next year if life permits.
