Soft bags for CVO Screemin' Eagle Fatboy with 200
« on: August 09, 2006, 12:02:26 AM »

Hi, I'm new to this thread, and just picked up a blue/yellow '06 CVO Screemin' Eagle Fatboy last week. I'm enjoying it big time, but need a few more things to get comfortable. I've ordered a a heal-toe shifter ('cause that's the way I always set up) and a Corbin Gunfighter seat with backrest (my back needs it, looks good, and I had one I liked on a Nomad years ago), but I still need some way to carry stuff. I'm not paying $3k for the Corbin hard bags, but I would like some usable soft bags. Does anything good lookin' work with the 200 rear tire and shotgun exhaust? (searched the site but I didn't see much...) Thanks! Matt
P.S. I have an '04 Goldwing for long rides and serious baggin'....

I'll be the second, WELCOME Matt, and congrats on the bike!

If you go back a few pages on the Fat Boy topics you will find some discussions on bags.
Here is one that shows a couple of detachable options.

Purple Haze...

get off this color thing already.   You really need to let go of this purple is better chit.  And I truly did not appreciate the private message you sent me telling me to Jack off!    I have not been rude here to anyone and it seems you always want to bring up the bike color issues...

One person said something nasty to you, but do not take it out on us with the other colors...

Hi Everybody, thanks for the info! Eagle1, I like the way your bike is set up. I ordered the gunfighter myself, and to me, it looks right on the CVO FatBoy. Your bags are just right too, but I don't yet know if I can track down something like them. Detachable is good, but I'm always carrying something.

I love the paint and brushed clearcoat on this bike! Like it better than any other factory paint job I've seen. I'm red-green color-blind though. Sometimes the difference between blue, and a blue with red in it (such as purple) is too subtle. It's all some kinda blue to me! I respond to the beauty of it--I just don't quite see it the same as folks who have full color vision.

A Harley sales guy just told me that they're doing more 200 tires for '07, so there should be more bags coming....

Thanx

Matt

I too needed a way to carry things on my bike, but did not need to all the time.  So after looking around for saddle bags that could easily be removed, and searching forums for information, I purchased a set of Boss Bags.  The reason I choose their bags over others was their reputation and their mounting system.  When the bags are removed there are just two pins left on each side of the bike.  Perfect for anyone not needing the bags 100% of the time.

Boss Bags is a great company to deal with and their products are top notch.  Their bags come with everything you need to install them, including an allen wrench and a thing of loctite.  Installation is very easy and once done you can put on or take off the bags in about 5 seconds each.  I now know why there mounting system is patented, it is that good.

Not sure if they make a set that does not have the quick release mounting, but either way I would highly recommend them.  I liked their bags so much I even bought the matching trunk bag to put on my luggage rack for even more storage when I travel on the bike.  I will try to get some photos put up here of my bike with and without the bags installed so you can see what they will look like on your bike.
