I have done some sort of paintwork on all the HD bikes I have ever owned. Since the inception of computer formula and mixing stations at distributors and higher end collision centers I have been able to find the codes based on Harley's offical name for the color on that year. Now I did this when the bikes were relatively new. Not sure how you will fair with a older bike but give it a try, probably have more luck with a friendly painter at the local shop spraying PPG than the distributor but never know. Also for what it is worth, I have always had perfect color match, but we mix it EXACTLY to the weight, use all the recommended PPG additives, reducers and clearcoat as well as spray pressure and cure times between coats. Some painters find all this to much trouble, but it has worked for me.
