Which CVO should I get?
« on: June 05, 2010, 08:27:09 AM »

I am looking at 2 bikes....a 2003 Harley Davidson Screamin' Eagle Deuce 100th Anniversary Edition and a 2008 H-D Screamin' Eagle Springer 105th Anniversary Edition.

The 2003 is a Deuce and is used with about 600 miles.  The 2008 is a Springer and is new with H-D warranty and 50 miles.  The 2008 has the 6th gear.

Any thoughts about the ride on both bikes and which one is more fun to ride?

I think you should go with whichever one you want and like.  Couple things to consider.  The 08 still being new will have the factory warranty, the 03 won't.  The 08 has the 110 engine the 03 the 95.  Color...you get the 100th Anniversary color, or the 105th Anniversary color...toss-up as both are anniversary models.  Both are soft tails, so the ride from that perspective should be the same.  Basically boils down to whether you want the springer front end or not, and the looks, and cost and what you feel you're willing to spend.   I know which way I'd go.  ;)

I have ridden a Deuce, but not the Springer....have heard the Springer is firmer and doesn't not the travel that the Deuce has.

I like both colors on the bikes.

As you said, one has a full warranty and the other doesn't.

Then there is the price, about $8K to $10k difference between the 2 bikes.

Would be a no brainer for me but you have to ask your self what's going to make you happy in the end Color Motor and Warranty and of course Cost

Come on guys, you are killing me LOL.....which one would you choose and why?

I like both bikes and are leaning more to the Deuce.  Also, the Deuce is 50 miles away and the Springer is 1200 miles away which they will ship.

I'd go with the Springer.......still just a little ride home but it is a bit longer.  Would make for a great two day ride and extended warranty is still possable. :2vrolijk_21:

SPRINGER!!!
If you enjoy "feeling" what your ride is doing in relation to the road, get the Springer. The other bikes feel "squishy" to me after riding the Springer.
My wife traded a Deuce after a year and only 8,000 miles for an '08 CVO Springer and has not regretted the trade one bit. She actually really liked the Deuce,
but loves the Springer!!

From what i have read on this site most Deuce have remained low mileage, so what does that tell you!
Deuce is just one of those models (like the rocker and roadglide) that you either love them or hate them, I dont see many Deuce models around on the streets so I guess they generally were not very popular.

My biased choice is the Springer but i am not hot for your color choice, generally the 105th didnt appeal to me but thats just my opinion.
The Springers are much more revered and you will enjoy all of the attention it gets.

I am curious why the Deuce has 2 rotors on the front wheel and the Springer only has 1 rotor?  I have also heard the '09 Springer has an improved front brake and wondered if the improved brake on the '09 could fit the '08?
