Had me going there for a minute.
Missread he wording.
Started searching for the closure of the highway.
Just delays from a rockslide and bridge painting if anyone cares.

July 1, 2020

Dear North Cascades Harley-Davidson Family and Friends,

We regret to inform you that North Cascades Harley-Davidson has reached the end of the road and we will be closing our doors permanently on July 31st, 2020.  The decision to close down this business was not an easy one as it has been our honor to be part of this riding community for so many years.

Please feel free to contact the store with any questions you may have, including questions regarding Dealer –Specific programs such as rewards, gift cards, pre-paid maintenance and Warranty Forever.  If your motorcycle is still in Service, has warranty or collision work, or you have any product on-order, we will be calling or sending more information to you regarding our procedure to finalize these transactions.

Over the next few days, we will announce final special shopping events for you as a thank you for your support. Our entire inventory, as well as furniture, fixtures, and other miscellaneous items will be sold. We invite you to stop by before we close our doors so we can say thank you and extend our gratitude in person.

This fantastic journey wouldn’t have been possible without you!!  Thank you for being part of our family.  We will see you on the road.

Sincerely,

Jeff “Sig” Siglin

How long had North Cascades been in business?

Just opened the email myself. Damn, that's where I bought my last 2 CVO's. The original owners name was Fred and sold out and retired a few years back and then was killed in a motorcycle accident last year I believe. His right hand man Jeff Arnold became a pretty good friend of mine over the years and has retired and moved to Arizona as of last year. The dealership started back in the 70's I believe as Skagit Harley and when the new owners took over the name was changed to North Cascades Harley. I for one will be sad to see it go. They have some top notch people in there who I'm sure will find a home, I just hope they land somewhere close to me.

He sold the dealership 4 years before the accident.

Just spoke with the GM up there and apparently HD will be closing (not renewing franchise agreements) 100 dealerships. WOW!

I bought my first Harley there in 2007 and just recently gave it to one of my sons.

This is very sad news. On my trip home from Alaska in late July of 2016, I had a water pump failure deep in the Yukon. I made it across the Canadian Border and stopped at North Cascades Harley for the repair. They had the part and were GREAT PEOPLE to deal with. My extended warranty put me up in a hotel not far from the Dealership. The next morning they were waiting for me. They washed the bike and my Bushtec, changed the oil and did the repair. Had a great time talking to the SM and GM. They wanted me to move to Washington and come to work there. While I would have loved to, I have way to much of my life in Maryland. I still get e mails and calls from them. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Was this a long time coming, or are they just another casualty of the bad economy?

Two phrases stood out. Extended warranty and Bushtec. Nice to see they did not give you crap about the repair.

They were great to work with. No problems at all. I hope things didn't change out there. I have a friend that doesn't live far from the Dealership. He told me Harley wouldn't renew their license agreement.

I imagine HD is having to cull smaller dealerships, similar to what we saw the auto industry do after the economic downturn in 2008.

Okay then, that dealership was just another casualty of the bad economy. Very sad indeed.

Prior to Covid-19 the Economy was great, record low unemployment and record high employment, record high stockmarket, and wages increasing.  Yet bike sales were still way down.  So its a lot more than just the economy.  Its has also to do with Boomers buying less bikes, more competition and like many people on here watching the price go up, will content is stripped from the bike.

Marina near me has taken 3 Harleys on trade for 3 boats in June.   Covid related, the whole family can go out on the boat...

Such a good point!  HD was doing bad in a great economy!  No amount of corporate speak is gonna save them....I been saying for awhile that I believe a buyout is in the future and hopefully a total upper management Flushing with it.

Yeah, I'm not on board with comment calling this as a result of a bad economy. In my opinion the economy was great right through March. They had to be in bad shape long before the Covid factor. Again imo.
