When my Electra Glide comes (FLHTCUSE4 in the New Year), I'd like to find a way of getting the bike off the ground but also turning it around in my garage - so I can just drive in and out.
If that means I can work on it at different heights all the better.
What do you guys use - or do I need to get more than one thing?
Can't wait.

I use a very light lift that I purchased at PepBoys. It was priced under $100 and it's great for washing it etc. Does not have any wheels and I don't think that it can fulfill your needs of moving it around with the bike on top. Nevertheless if you find something in the market please inform.

Take a look:

J&S Jacks are awesome. I can move the bike anywhere I want to move it within the garage and driveway. Very stable.

.

Then I have the Handy Lift SAM 1000 for big jobs. It is also moveable, but not with a bike on it. Well.......actually it can be moved with a bike on it, but it takes some grunt to get the dolly levered enough to move it. Came with a tow dolly, so repositioning within the garage or moving it out in the driveway is a cinch.

Somebody posted a link to a really low turntable. That would be slick.
-
I agree with Twolane the j&s looks good, I have a bulldog lift which works well also. Make sure it is wide and long so as plenty stable.
-
Here's a link for what your looking for. I never tried one, saw a video of a guy ride his bike onto it then move it all around the garage.

I use a Pitbull lift with the air/hydraulic operated jack. Its ridiculously good. Lift it as high as you would want and its as stable as on the ground. You can literally stand on a fully lifted bike and it don't move. Amazing.
They sell a turntable that fits on the lift but I don't have one so I can't comment if that is useful or not.

cheers!

Renea and I rode right by that place this past summer...............already had my J&S tho'

I've had a sears lift for about 5 years. Works well, inexpensive, and not hard to move with bike in air
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950190000P
Looks like J&S lift to me, but haven't seen the J&M up close.
-
Just purchased the Sears model myself a few weeks ago. For $100 it's a good deal and works well for my DWG. Would have loved the J&S but couldn't spring for the $$ at this time.
-
Be careful with the Sears lift. I bought 1 last year and then began reading others comments. Went out to the garage, lifted the bike and wasn't too secure with the movement, so I took it back and bought a J&S. It's great.

Been fielding questions via PM about my saddlebag stand. Was discussed here a ways back, but if you go to http://www.bagrrest.com/ (http://www.bagrrest.com/) you'll find it and be able to purchase one for yourself. When I bought mine, he was offering a 10% discount to CVO Harley members.
I'm sure someone has the time and knows how to pull up the old BagrRest thread.

Several different products mentioned in a thread with the surprisingly accurate title of "Saddlebag Stands."

Getting a J&S as a Christmas present. Might as well drop the hint about the saddlebag stand. Ho Ho Ho!

The sears lift does flex if you push the front or read of the bike up/down. I would not use it if you plan to do heavy work on the bike.
I use mine for light stuff, working inside the fairing, washing, other stuff that doesn't require a lot of muscle or torque. It's fine for that.

You are going to score HUGE for Christmas. Congratulations. You'll love the equipment.

I did the same same thing with my cheapo Walmart jack. Then...........the bike was stuck on it after the TWR install, since the bottle jack broke. Immediately bought a J&S. The old Walmart jack is somewhere on the bottom of Guntersville Lake. ;D

J&S is the way to go. The Sears is too flimsy with the bike in the air. I tried to use the provided straps and never got it worked out to my satisfaction. I've actually sat on the bike while my wife moved the J&S jack around the garage just to prove to myself it was stable in the air. Some things you just have to pay the money for.

You got that right. Haven't tried your experiment yet, but as easy as the bike is to move on the J&S, I'm confident all 107 pounds of Renea could move the jack, the bike and me as an assembly wherever she wanted within the garage.
Good stuff has a price. :2vrolijk_21:

SPYDGLIDE: You're right. That picture of me getting a free ride would have been pretty cool to share. But the moment is lost in time and is now only a figment of my imagination. Oh Well.

There's never a camera around when you need one. ;D

Looked at the J and S video - why buy anything else?

I know, them and the Pitbulls do look great - the only problem is getting them to the UK for me. J&S email address doesn't seem to work for me and Pitbull haven't yet quoted for delivery - but can you imagine 130kg in a box to the UK.
Anybody, anywhere used an ABBA Super Lift - seems the highest quality one I can find in the UK?

It's been so long now, Jon, I've forgotten the shipping charge. I think it was free.......but what surprised me was it came via UPS. I know that thing weighs more than 70 lbs. Anyway, I could try to contact them for you and see how much it would cost to get one of their jacks across the pond. I think it would be worth the price. They're mighty nice. Anyway, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Yes please, try and find out for me.

Year and a half or so ago one of our European members wanted one of these but had some difficulty getting it arranged from his end. I bought it here and sent it as freight on a commercial airline. Cost then was $105.

I'm on it, Jon. I should have some figures by tomorrow afternoon.

Pitbull have just quoted me $610 for shipping - Gulp!!
Happy Holidays to all

I would second that - one of the best investments in the SERK I have made. It's rock solid, gets the bike up high enough to work on/under and it rolls around with very little effort.
Good stuff. Anyone military they give 5% off.

Apparently they're down for the Holidays. Email bounces. No one except a machine answers the phone. I'll keep trying.
