Hope everyone gets a chance to do this! The bike gets more dirty after this but picture says it all!

Very cool.
Something I've always wanted to do, just have to find the time and commit to it.
Good for you.
Take care & ride safe,
Mike
PS - I'm not sure what is brighter, the sunshine behind you or your big smile. :2vrolijk_21:

Grizzly it is definitely the smile!! At this point we have seen about all the big animals except a Grizzly!! It looks like you have hit almost ALL of the destinations except Alaska!

Left Dawson City this morning after contaminating the lips:

Arrived in Tok via Chicken today.
-
Not true!
-
Great place for pizza beer and salad here in Tok.
-
Recommend the Denali!
-
Congrats! Did that and on to Deadhorse a couple of years ago on a BMW GSA and even with 7 inches of suspension it beat the crap out of the bike! Nothing but respect for you, Brother!

:2vrolijk_21: Congratulations! Definitely a bucket list item for all of us. :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats. Did that run from Florida in 2010. 11,860 miles driveway to driveway. We also did top of the world highway and went in through the checkpoint just outside Chicken. Nothing like being on a 900 pound dirt bike.

Definitely almost all the bikes on the 4th of July were of the on/off-road variety you were on! Only my bike and a Honda Goldwing were of the big heavy bike with slick tires variety!

Spent the last few days doing excursions in Fairbanks with my daughter who flew in for a few days but finally hit the road on the 4th at 6am to head to the circle. Passed a tour outfit heading to the same sign just out of town going real slow with driver yacking on headphones. Next time I saw them they were about halfway to the sign while I was on my way back. Including my stops and breakfast at the Yukon gas station it took 11 hours. Wonder when they finished!
The start of the Dalton before the bike got dirty:

The usual sign:

Pre-breakfast along the way:

About to cross the Yukon Bridge and hopefully they are open and have gad on the 4th!

They had GAS (gad):

And breakfast!:

And the final destination:
Mosquitoes were horrendous!

In summary it wasn’t that bad riding on the sections that were not wet. Except for a couple recently dumped large gravel spots that caused some fishtails. It only rained on me maybe 20 miles but rained in front of me and behind me. In all maybe had to ride 50 miles of wet slippery snot that basically feels about as close to riding on ice as you will get. I know because I unfortunately got stuck of few times riding on ice over the years. Finally almost back to the gas station so with about 46 more miles of the Dalton left to ride my cross-over exhaust bracket broke and had to stop and wire it up while simultaneously fight off mosquitoes! So finished the Dalton snd then back to Fairbanks with a slightly wounded bike to wash but a very happy camper. Bucket list item checked off! Oh and a dirtier bike!

Yesterday around Destruction Bay got these shots of Grizzly!!

Great photos! Have you removed all of the “circle dirt” that collected and baked onto your pipes? I’ve used steel wool, sandpaper, etc and never removed all of it. Three years later I still have a little dirt/mud come out from somewhere under the gas tank every time I wash the bike.

Glad to see the rest of the clan are doing well and enjoying the great outdoors. ;D

was able to get a fair amount of gopro video on the trip but only posting a few photos. Thanks for the info on that snotty stuff. I will have to take a closer look now. I have pressure washed it twice since then but no real cleaning yet.

That Grizzly was a definite highlight of the trip. Was fortunate that a road construction truck had pulled over there and I noticed one guy in the back of the truck pointing a camera. I was able to pull over right in front of them and get those photos plus a couple awesome videos from my phone before they made me move on.

This trip took a lot of planning but was worth the effort. A couple more thoughts in case someone else is heading up there. Besides the Dalton hwy trip the worst to legs road damage wise were going through Carmacks to Dawson city (lots of potholes to dodge), and then from there over the Top of the World hwy ( frost heaves and gravel). Still worth it!
Don’t listen to all you hear regarding the roads. Heard over and over how the shorter direct way Tok via Destruction Bay was horrible but going that way on the way back found it to be some ove the best of the trip. Also the Cassiar Hwy was the best road conditions of the trip. Also make sure to take the Tok Cutoff road towards Anchorage and then Richardson Hwy up to Fairbanks. Although about 140 miles farther that way was a highlight. Also road in excellent shape. All this information is only good presently as each year it appears the roads all require a lot more rehab!
Raced home to escape the smoke and good to be home. Hope anyone who likes the outdoors can make this trip of endless mountain ranges! Cheers!

Several years later and still finding road dirt in new places. Most recent: replacing old battery, found a thick layer inside the battery compartment, under the battery.

Glad you had a great time. I enjoyed the write up.
-
Enjoyed your write up. I didn't have the balls for Dawson and Chicken, so kudos to you. The most beautiful scenery ever. Makes me want to do it all over again.

Actually your outstanding write up was a major reason I HAD to put this in the bucket list! Not sure if it were balls or stupidity at least as far as Dawson. There were several occasions because of the rain that it could have turned bad. Definitely felt relief and a sense of accomplishment afterwards! Cheers and thanks for planting the seed.

Final post with a little Harley Davidson Michael Jackson Styling on the Richardson Hwy heading to Fairbanks. Favorite day of riding with not a damn thing to complain about 😀
