Alternative saddle bags?
« on: May 19, 2013, 01:31:36 AM »

Hey, do you have any ideas for an alternative to these saddle bags: part# 90200765 / 90200784? These aren't lockable  :nervous:, tiny (about 2400 cubic inches)  >:(, aren't lockable at the bike  :( and the are expensive (1080 Euros in Germany  :o).

Unfortunately it also required alternative brackets (maybe "easy brackets" or "edge brackets") and a rear turn signal relocation.

Any ideas  :nixweiss:?

Greetings at all "Breakouter"

Hey Mate,

You make some good points but depending on your colour you might find it hard to find something that will look any good.

I have the Red so the bag were purchased to suit. Yes they are a little small but still easily pack a weeks worth of clothes and match the brown seat perfect.

Yes you need the mounting kit but your wrong about relocating rear turn signals. They stay where they are.

Hey Bretto,

thanks for your answer. I have the black/silver CVO breakout so i think that almost all black saddle bags look good on that bike. And your right with the relocation of the signals: I meant that it is necessary with ANOTHER holder to relocate the rear turn signals.

Any other ideas for alternative saddlebags?

Hey Simjoheva
I have the Black/Silver Breakout with Black saddlebags and just returned from Africa BikeWeek. I concur with Bretto above that despite the size I was able pack enough for 5 days away and still returned with unused kit. One just has to be even more precise now with the packng and Ive got the Harley vacuum bags to pack with too which really help ... But yes bloody expensive but they do suit the bike, altough they come off immediately on arrival at destination.... Im not a "bagger".... good luck with your search for alternatives if they are available ....

Hi OXMP,

thank you for your assessment.

The problem: I live in Germany and it can be really cold here sometimes and it also rains from time to time. So I have to take on a tour rainwear (at least 15 liters needed), add to that clothes for colder nights. So: 34 liters (2100 cubic inches) isn't that much.

Any other ideas?

Use a sissy bar bag- this is what I do.  I have a smaller one and a larger one for longer stays.  slips right over the sissy bar and you use the snap together straps-I love them.  easy on and easy off.

Bretto those are some bad ass bars you got on your ride bro. What model bars and what height? Did you use the stock riser?
