So I've run through the first tank, and need to fill up to get home. But I can't get the cap off. It turns about half turn in either direction, then gets tight. Tried pushing down and turning, but same thing. Am I doing something wrong??

Sounds right what youre doing. It should pop up after a slight turn. Then unscrew anti clockwise

1/4 turn counter clockwise and cap should pop up

Took an oil filter wrench to turn it, but got it....threads in tank look wrinkly, and paint was bubbled where threads contact cap. Cleaned up and hopefully be ok now.

Good to hear. Better mention to dealer though just in case it happens again and dont get it off next time. Or worse, scratch the tank with your oil wrench.

Get a new one under warranty...they are $90.  ....ask me how I know

I think for memory yours  dropped Nicky but this sounds to be and over run of paint on the actual tank thread which is causing the cap to stick so could turn out a  disaster. Dave

Got ahold of my salesman a let him know.  Drove to the gas station, and it was tight again.  After 5 minutes of grunting, I finally got it off.  Will have to take it in this week.
