HD is coming out with a limited(500) edition paint job on the SG. At the tune of $39k!! Almost as much as a CVO. But it sure is pretty!

Another miss in my book........butte ugly

In my opinion it's actually a good looking paint scheme, but not 7k good looking! Not sure this limited edition stuff HD is coming up with is worth much except in the eye of the beholder, but I can guarantee that every one of these bikes will be sold before they land. Great business decision by HD.
-
$39k…ouch.
-
looks like a LEGGO... well thats what my little mind saw :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
-
Each to his own, but I think it's truly fugly..... :nixweiss: $39k? Wouldn't pay $39 for it.
-
It's an sg special is all with some fancy paint by gunslinger. Not worth 39k. Stuart.
-
I like the Gauntlet Gray Metallic/Vivid Black better.

As far as the Artic Blast, I don't think its too bad, as they say in the car business, there's an ass for every seat
-
Good looking bike, but way to much for just paint.

A cool video with an inside look at Gunslinger who does the paint for the CVOs.
-
I have to admit I like the honeycomb effect. It is a cool look. But I am drawn to different colors.
-
All the other Specials have stretched bags.
-
How much do you think Gunslinger was paid per set $2,000? More? Less? Whatever it is I’m sure it’s nowhere near $7,000 and I bet it kills them to see HD sell their artwork for double or triple what they were paid.
-
I like it ok and would buy it over Vivid Black if it were only $2000 more but $39k is too close to CVO $ for a bike with a lot less upgrades.

$2000 × 500 = $1,000,000.00 probably made it worth their while. :nixweiss:

In view of recent CVO paint, I think, even though way too expensive, it is unique, and desirable. Would I buy one? Depends on what the 2022 CVO line offers.
-
There seems to be some inconsistencies in price. One source says $38,xxx another source is talking about $32,xxx. If I was to wager, I would say the $38k price is most likely correct.

$1,000,000 May sound like a lot but doesn’t go very far in a business with skilled laborers (particularly with enough of them to turn out 500 paint sets in a relatively short amount of time)
overhead, taxes, health insurance, paid time off, profit sharing, liability insurance, etc.
-
HD website says it adds $6895 to the msrp.

So its like the limited paint sets you can buy from HD then add to your bike. Thing is now, you don't get the original metal like you use to. good deal for HD but not so good for consumer.
-
Can someone name a time that HD made a “good deal” for the customer?
-
Just got off the phone with my local HD dealer. Bike MSRP is $32,995. Still a lot of coin but gives some spread from a CVO.
-
The initial shot of that side profile, I was looking sheriff's dept. logo. I would take the 7K and put it toward a true custom paint job rather than something you just walk in and buy off the shelf.

It may not have been a lot but if they did it there was a profit on top of expenses otherwise they wouldn't have done it. :nixweiss:

It’s good the MoCo is doing different things now with some exclusivity and not flooding the market with same old. The bad news is I’ve never seen dealers with so few bikes and used Harley’s selling for such premiums. Probably some is supply chain issues and some is their new strategy.
-
Just saw this bike on the showroom floor in Battlefield HD. Not bad looking, too much white paint.
-
I'd like to see them hire a graphic designer who is also an artist. The last few years, the paint schemes have been pretty blah for me.
-
I’m with you
Too many straight lines and angles, particularly the way the bags are done.

Aw come on, just because its not an orange Road King ;D

I do not know where everyone is getting the $39,000 price tag. The website lists the price at $32,999.

Yeah
plus it ain’t a Orange/Black Road King.
They might have to rename Gunslinger to TurdSlinger

I would have rather HD put their efforts into a water-cooled SG, with superior suspension, frame, braking, and infotainment center. IMO, this is just an expensive paint job wrapped over antiquated technology.
-
They did. It is called the Pan America.
-
Dealer just got his Artic Blast on the floor. It is a nice looking bike. Dealer also has a sunset fade CVO coming in by months end...decisions, decisions...or just wait until the 22's arrive ?!?
