Title: Meguiar's clay kit
Post by: kb on July 21, 2009, 01:06:55 PM
Has anyone tried one of these clay bars to remove a small surface scratch? The scratch is just to the right of my ignition switch and it is hardly noticeable.I don't want to make it worse than it is. Please let me know . Thanks KB

KB, clay bars don't remove scratches.  What they do is shear off and remove foreign particles that get embedded in the paint over time.

If you have a slight scratch in the clearcoat, a little polishing compound followed by a good wax would be the method of choice.  Deeper scratches into the base (color) coat will require a little more work, with some touchup paint then polish then wax.
