I'm sure they're others on the site who are into black guns. This is my third one. First one is a Inter Ordnance AK-47. Second is a S&W M&P 15 Sport.
This one is a LWRC SPR M6. Magpul grips, Aimpoint red dot optics and Surefire 6PX tactical light. The CVO of black guns!

I've had this one since 1984. I wanted a civilian version of the gun that was used in Viet Nam. Paid $450 for gun, scope, sling, bayonet, 2 thirty round mags.

Nice deal. I had the same setup, with the bayonette, but without the scope nor forward assist back in the 70's. I did have the auto kit installed that I bought from the back of a magazine though. Didn't use it much because I was too broke to shoot the damn thing.

If you are in the market for a black gun, buy now! If you can find one!
I went to a local gun store yesterday who specializes in black guns. They open at 9:00AM and I got there at 8:50 and there was already 12 people in line! They normally have about 20 black guns on the rack and more in the stock room. They had three AR's and six AK's. When I left thirty minutes later they had there AK's left and no AR's!
I had stopped in for more ammo and mags, I bought 1000 rounds of 5.56 last month for $295 and 10 Pmags for $140. Yesterday they would only sell me 200 rounds for $140 and only two mags for $25 each!
-

223 ammo is getting more costly everyday and harder to get as well. Two weekends ago I bought 2000 rounds of .308 from Sportsmans Warehouse as they had limited supply. I was also going to get 1000 rounds of .223 but they had ton's of this ammo ($8.50 a box) so i put off picking up any. This weekend i stopped in to pick up 1000 rounds of .223 and they were bone dry. The sales guy said within 3 days after the Connecticut shooting they sold the remaining .308 ammo they had and all of their .223 supply.
-
The ammo shortages are just 'silly'...it's a bolt rifle round and no matter how extreme the gun-grabbers get w/ the military-style guns & high cap. mags, the ammo will not be included. All of this has happened before and will again... ;).. it's too late to be stockpiling now anyway, unless you've just got to throw money at something. :vrolijk_6: JMHO. spyder

Here’s a Black Gun accessory that’s a good fit here! This bad boy allows you to fasten a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the bottom of your short barreled AR-15. Think of it as an alternative to the passive, battery operated security system.

The Nikon M-223 is an excellent bang for buck scope for the 223 platform. Under $500. If you want to keep it under $300 then the Nikon P series. Over $500 - the sky's the limit.

Definitely a fun shooter. Got mine before they offered the tactical sights though. They've since stopped taking in the slide to change out so I may have to look into changing myself. Eliteammo used to be a great source of really high powered penetrating ammo, but they've had some issues as of late. Last time I looked they didn't have any stock and was backordered for two months.

One of my black guns, this is a fun pistol to shoot!
Just just love mine, it is a blast to shoot. I really like the extra 30 round mags I have for it also. Ammo is getting hard as heck to find for it. Glad I still have at least a 2 year supply 8)

While there are some really nice pistols on these pages..........I think this thread has lost its way.
yea...The term "Black Gun" refers to the black finish on the AR. Other modern military guns have that black finish, too, but the term refers to the AR and its variants, mainly because it was the first gun with such a finsih issued to a major military service. Thus you see books like The Black Rifle, about the AR's evolution and application. The popular press has hijacked the term to refer to any military style weapon with a black finish, but I don't believe that came from the shooting community. Rather it is another attempt to lump a bunch of guns into a general politically incorrect category.
-
Exactly, Pete. Don't get me wrong, I luv all guns...unless pointed at me. Not trying to stop someone from posting a pic, just funny to see the term take on new meanings. It is what it is.........or what it was.

I know it's not a "Black Gun" as Pete has shared the definition of but this is my everyday carry & it's also black so I guess it's a black gun. Kimber Super Carry Ultra HD Stainless Frame & Slide.

Especially considering the thread is Do you carry? and this is your EDC

Anybody else into reloading?
Only to keep shooting :huepfenlol2: Hi Ken

Used to reload a lot (pistol) as I was getting into the pistol sports. That stopped and so did the re-loading. Got rid of everything except for several thousand 230 FMJ's and empty shells.
Now I am starting to re-acquire all the goodies.

Was that due to N.J. laws or another reason?

top rifle is an LAR grizzly .223/5.56 and the bottom one a S&W M&P15X .223/5.56.
the rest aren't black guns so I can't talk about em. :nixweiss:

Back then if you were not competing, ammo was plentiful and inexpensive enough that it was hard to justify the time spent reloading.

Unfortunately those days are over.

I have mostly handguns, .45 ACP autos and revolvers - Sig, Kimber, S&W, but do have a few rifles. I enjoy shooting this Ferfrans SOAR-P 5.56mm.

You Guys are so lucky having the 2nd Amendment and the ability to bear arms. Here in the land of OZ virtually impossible to own and carry a weapon.

Did your firearms confiscation end up getting rid of crimes, holdups and murders in the land of OZ ?

No it didn't. It's interesting that Law enforcement officers in Australia can carry a firearm for self defense but Joe Average can't.

Ha-ha - now that's cool cmcarr88...

As an FYI, Black gun = Assault Weapons, typically AR/AK platforms.
a weapon derives the term ( assault) by the bearer of said weapon. AR does not stand for assault rifle, AR is short for ARMALITE, the developer of the M16 platform.

Armalite 20" with green furniture, and Rock River 16" fixed stock carbine.

And I just had to have this! The grips sold me on it!!!

I know really old thread, but holy crap the Ar platform fire arms have went through the roof!! I knew ammo had got crazy.
I haven't built one in a couple years so really hadn't paid a whole lot of attention to the price of kits. Both the kids had hinted about they would really like one for Christmas so I thought I would make use of a couple lowers that have been in the safe collecting dust. Jumped on Palomino State to get a couple upper kits and dang just the upper is more than I have spent on building complete guns.
So those of you with parts laying around collecting dust lock them up ypu just as well have gold nuggets laying around.
-
2 bare lowers, one completed lower, parts for the others and one completed upper - but alas - all lost in an offshore boating accident.
