so I got this 90 fat boy stock un touched engine. went on a bender and blew the belt on my 09 king thought it would be a great idea to dump the clutch was like here hold my beer and watch this. epic fail! I then put a battery in the ol fat boy and go for a ride and she quit yup stripped the key way that drives the pinion gear. so hear is the thing motor has a lot of miles on her I hate to just replace the key way its time for an overhaul or a drop in. now I know the stock cases are weak so an overhaul is going to be cheaper but can only have a limited amount of power I am thinking a complete drop in now I wanted an S&S 111 until I saw the price tag. some say go rev tech some say ultima I need some more opinions I like the square rev tech 4x4 idea but I have heard the ultima is the way to go I wanna keep it at the 96"- 113" range any suggestions or facts would be greatly appreciated

Put a 107" Ultima in it , and you'll be a very happy customer........... :)

Steer clear of the CCI engines.

Ultimas are great some people have trouble with the lifters, I just changed them to S&S before starting the motor and never had a problem

your evo may be best suited for fishing purposes. :thinking2:

I have a S&S V 111 with 45,000 miles on the motor without any problems. Still using same lifters. Love it.

The 1990 cases were not known as problematic, but we have witnessed the '92-'94 years fracture in the 90 degree machined corner in back of the rear tappet block.
Don't know if I'd throw the baby out with the bathwater......as a Wood 8 equipped Evo, set up correctly can/will go off at 95-100 hp, and 95-100 ft/lbs, sae, pump gas friendly.
Just sent one home to Seldon, NY, 2 weeks ago, and sending another one in kit form to Gonzales, Texas, on Friday.
