I only liked it because it was Harley Orange (like D00d's Pumpkin  :2vrolijk_21:)
When this thread was first started I remembered how bright the colors were on the Challengers in the past. If only I had a money tree in the yard somewhere. That is nice. :2vrolijk_21:

I wonder if it has a 110 in it?

It has Dodge's version of the 110 for sure :2vrolijk_21:

Just because I got a VON, doesn't mean that I will get a car. We don't know what arbitrary number Chrysler has chosen to make the cut-off. I have not heard how many orders they received on the first day. Are they just going to produce the orders they received in the first fifteen minutes or the first day or only 1500 ? Who knows. Hopefully I'm in there.
I visited the Terre Haute dealership yesterday and asked how many orders they made. Terre Haute is the largest town near me. The place where Larry Bird played college basketball. They said they ordered a black one for dealer stock. The owner of our dealership has decided to keep his order even though it will not be a manual six speed.
I noticed yesterday that there is someone on E-bay auctioning off his to anyone willing to pay $18 or $19 thousand over sticker. Someone has already called him a bandit in a question to the seller.

Not sure if all of the first year get a special number or whatever, but it seems to me I recall a number around 6,000 for the first year of production when I was at the Chrysler intro show in Vegas, keeping in mind it isn't a full year and then the 2010 model will begin with the 6 speed maual.

Like you said, hard to know what the full details are.  I know when the SRT 8 Grand Cherokee came out we didn't get one for a year, but dealers smaller than us got them.  There is no way to know who gets what, for the most part though the bigger metro dealers get the bulk of the cars.

If you need to ask about that, you can't afford it anyway.

Oh, sorry about that, I thought the saying was if you have to ask the PRICE you can't afford it. I already know I can't afford a new one!

The guys on dodgechallenger.com seem to think the production number for the SRT8's will be in the 4500 to 5000 area. Some say one per dealer except the major markets. One guy acted like he was in sales for a larger dealer and had ordered four cars on Monday. They say about half the dealers are selling at MRSP and the other half are selling ten to fifteen thousand over.

I have an appointment for a 30,000 mile service on my Rumble Bee a week from Saturday at Roanoke Motors (http://roanoke.fivestardealers.com/) and should be able to get some more poop on the SRT8 Challengers from the owner, John, then.  Depending on what year you look, they are #1 or #2 in Viper sales in the nation and always have a large SRT inventory on hand, so John is alway pretty up to speed with what's going on.  It will be interesting to learn how many Challengers he ordered on Monday and throughout this week and next and how many SRT8s he's been told to expect for the 2008 model year.

It isn't a big number whether around 5 or 6 thousand.  It should allow the dealers to have a vehicle that will hold the MSRP price without argument and for those in markets like L A and Florida the price will be over MSRP undoubtedly.

Honestly, I can't bring myself to charge over MSRP even on hot product, I'd rather look the customer in the face two years from now when it's just another set of wheels when he wants to trade it.  Started that way in 1979 when Porsche Turbos were going for $20 over the $45 MSRP, I still sell several of the 79 Turbo guys Porsches today and a few that paid over elsewhere and never went back.

Regardless, the Challenger is a winner and anyone who gets one is going to have some fun.  I'm just holding out for the manual trans.

I received an update today via e-mail. The official Dodge website stated that there were over 4300 orders on Monday and they have over 6000 now. Over half the ordered cars are orange. They still don't say how many they will build. If I read the notice correctly, when regular production ordering is available, they will be called "09's". Therefore, only this batch of SRT8's will be "08's". The website also gives small stamp-like pictures of parts of the supposed production car. No picture of the complete car. Grill, gas cap, wheel, spoiler and exhaust tip.

If you click the small photos, you get larger images.  I think the gas cap is my favorite . . . . what a throw-back! :2vrolijk_21:
