Wow cuth! Did you fly these? I just flew Cessna 150s and had five Ultralight / Experimentals. Landed on a road in the middle of nowhere on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River one time. Car had two guys and a girl trying to change a tire. One guy sat on the hood and was trying to direct the operation. One guy was using one hand and his head to lift the tire and both were giving instructions to the girl trying to operate the jack. I got out of the plane and went to help. The guy on the hood had no legs, the guy working on the spare was paralyzed on one side! I changed the tire, put everything back in the trunk, got back in my plane and flew away. I thought I had a good story until one of the other pilots said "Just think of the story that they have to tell!" LOL  ::)

these are just a few of the goodies I was lucky enough to play with when I was younger..
flying in and to airshows every weekend in warbirds all throughout the midwest

afetr that, a Cessna just didnt do it, and i gave up on it

Oh my....  ???

Never got to do more than ride in a few warbirds.  A little bit of right seat time.  But nothing that really mattered.  Never having gotten to play with them for real can only imagine that it would be hard to get accustomed to Skylanes or Bonanzas again after flying those so much sexier.  Hottest thing I ever got to log many hours in was a nice Mooney.  It was a lot of fun.  And got to play a couple of weekends in a T37.  But I'd still trade Brian's bike(s) to log even a couple of hours in a Mustang.

The Mustang and the Corsair do it for me.  Though for reasons even I'm not sure why I love the looks of the P38.  Much rather fly the Mustang or Corsair.  But if the Lightning was a woman I'd marry it.

Early flight training was a hoot.  Not knowing (nor even having a clue) what you don't yet know had to be tough on the flight instructors.  But damn it was fun.

I did mine (and this is no chit) with a one legged guy named Riley flying out of his grass strip called Riley's Roost.  Taildragger time in a sweet little maroon and polished Cessna 140.  But he had all kinds of old junk around the strip.  Aztecs and a couple of 150s and a Tomahawk (hate that one).

About a year after I got my VFR tag I did some time in a Citabria too.  Instructor at the next town over had one and did aerobatic instruction.  Loved every minute of it.  That is the only flying that is more fun than riding a motorcycle.

first solo was in a Cessna 150  with a coffee grinder radio......  try that sometime!!!!!

the nice thing is it was on like a 15 000 ft runway.
another really cool deal i got....

after i got my license i went with a dude named sabby ludovici...  like a 72 yr old CFI ... and got my SES (single engine seaplane) rating.

amazing how easy it is to land on the water.. nice and smooth.

ooooh, never got my ticket for seaplanes but did a little time in a 172 on floats.  Really liked it too.  Got to log 8 landings but never finished the rating (aside from the instructor time was never going to use it).  That scene out the cockpit just before and through touch down on water was one of my favorites though.

Just noticed the coffee grinder radio mention.  Have seen a couple of the old Narco radios sitting on shelves but never actually had to contend with flying with one.

My first solo was in an old 150 also though.  It had a radio.  And it worked.  About half the time.  Just like the single VOR.  Thank god people used to be able to read maps :huepfenlol2: .
