Seat Fix Info to Road Glide Forum?
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:36:05 PM »

It doesn't appear that the info on the seat "fix" is posted on the Road Glide Forum. Can the administrator make sure they get this info too? If I understand correctly this effects '09 SE Road Glides as well...

Mod Edit: See attachment and photo's of the fix...

What is the purpose of this kit .... looks like it would raise the seat off the side covers to prevent  paint dammage ?????

I was going to take my seat apart and put blocks under the pan and then put the cover back over them, but this works as well.

If you look at the seat at it sits loose on the bikes, the butt part is not touching off on the bike frame and it bows down badly when you sit on it.  The new blocks support the seat from bowing out at the top front.

BUTTTTTTTTTT....  That still won't fix a seat that is just too far back even before you sit down.  Maybe a new seat could make better use of the added block supports, but my seat is already too short.  I can firmly grab the front and hit it sideways and it will pop out of the front retainer that supposed to hold it down and in place.  If I use my rear seat longer mounting tab, this will take care of that, but now I'm an inch closer to the handlebars and I don't like that.

Time will tell if this "fixes" the problem or not.

Greetings,

Part-time HD parts guy here.   We called HD when I found this part number on the S/E Streetglide group and they claim that they don't know what we are talking about and that no such part # is available.  We had to tell them the number and send them a copy of the install sheet.   So it took them a year and a half to come up with the fix for the S/E Roadglide and Streetglide seats and this is it????   I have no idea when this part # will show up.

Please remember that I said part-time so I do not have daily contact with the guys at work but this was two weeks ago.

michaelbmenaker - First, thanks for finding this! I hope this is the fix. is there any way you can blow the drawing up or scan it at a higher res? I tried blowing it up and it get distorted. I would like to print it out and bring it to my Harley dealer and have him order me the parts. Thanks again.

But i doubt , whether these parts could be mounted when using a rear saddlebag guard , they are screwed in the same hole.
