Title: Put a Deposit Down on a '17
Post by: Sierramadre on August 28, 2016, 01:53:36 PM

My dealer has an orange and black CVO Street Glide that should be arriving in the next two weeks according to their ordering system so I put down a deposit today. Will see if we can work out a deal when  it arrives. They're a pretty big dealer and currently only have one other cvo Streetglide in their system which won't be coming until October.

So we struck a deal today and I'm going to take delivery of the Orange and Black Streetglide on Friday. For the first time ever I'm going to ride a Harley out of the showroom bone stock. I thought I would put a few miles on it and and enjoy it until the  end of our very short season in Michigan and then store it at the dealership and have them upgrade it during the winter with: pipes, tuner, highway pegs, etc. Give the aftermarket guys a chance to catch up and see what's available.  Or maybe I will like it just it  the way it is. That's unlikely but who knows. Will post some pix this weekend.

I traded the Breakout. Really liked it for riding around town but couldn't justify keeping both bikes.

My dealer called today and said they received a shipment of 2017 screamin eagle parts so they are installing the new street tuner and slip on mufflers before I pick it up tomorrow. Just going to have a base map to start and will do the dyno tuning over the winter. Will be interested to hear how it sounds.

Did you get a fair deal! some dealers try to steal your trade and also charge way over MSRP on the new one especially CVO's

Argh. Friday update. Can't close on the bike today because the MSO hasn't arrived yet. With the Long Labor Day Weekend, it looks like Tuesday will be the day.

I went to my local dealer because they called and asked me to come and look at the black and gray one.  They unloaded it at 3pm, I was ther (just to see it) by 4pm and it was sold and in the service department getting slip ons put on it.

Mine came in yesterday. Nobody at my dealership knows anything about the "Vehicle Trade In Sales Tax Credit". How is that even possible?

Basically the government in their benevolent wisdom figures they will give you credit for the sales tax you paid the first time on the bike when you trade it in for a new model.  They know they will get it back when the next guy in the chain of ownership pays sales tax on the bike you traded in.  And so it goes...with the gov collecting their dime every time that bike changes hands....Quite a racket...

Well, I drove it home this afternoon. Had the new Harley Street Cannon mufflers put on along with the new Harley Street Tuner. It did 91hp on the Dyno and 118 ft lbs torque.

I only have a 35 mile sample, but the bike is pretty impressive. The engine is much quieter than my previous 110 with much less valve clatter.  The idle is also smoother but not smooth, if that makes any sense. The power is linear and deceptive. It pulls strongly throughout the gears and seems effortless. Clutch engagement seems the same as previous CVOs and the transmission seemed somewhat smoother but still felt positive engagements on both up shifts and downshifts. Found neutral fairly easily. The suspension is noticeably better, front and rear. Took the bumps and lousy roads in stride and made me very confident in short order. The exhaust note is interesting. It's deep and bassy under power but a little muffled at idle. Sort of reminds me of the sound that old Chriscraft boats make with the noise burbling in the water as it exits the  through- hull exhaust. It's distinctive and clearly a Harley but I think I would  like a bit more volume. Will have to drive it more before I can render a final verdict. More tomorrow after I have the chnce to stretch its legs.

Nice & congrats!!
I did the 2300 km ride to Milwaukee Rally 2016 last weekend and went to the factory for demo day and drove 4 new 2017's, including the new Ultra Limited and that wicked green CVO.
The limited felt very sloppy pivoting around and drove nice on the highway...almost felt as quick as my 110.
The 114 CVO is just sweet, all the nimble handling I get on mine, with refined cooling and such a beast when you launch it.
Nice purchase, they drive amazing!!

Very nice ,
Can you confirm is the seat still a gel seat? just looked thinner on the inner portion.
Great colour choice  :2vrolijk_21: does the orange contain any "sparkly bits " in the paint when it hits the sun?

Thx. I like it. It is a gel seat. Both the orange and black paint have metallic  flecks. The orange metallic is very fine and brightens and sparkles in the sun but appears more muted in indirect light.

Like everything about it so far except the exhaust note is a little too quiet, even with the street cannons and stage l. I'm sure there will be an aftermarket solution soon.

The stage l isn't quiet, just quieter than I'm accustomed to. It's much louder than the stock bike..  It has a nice deep sound when you accelerate but its a little tame at idle.

Waiting for paperwork on a 2017 Limited. Got just over 10% off. Dealer does not have the bike but al long as I get it by February I'm OK.

10% off sounds like a good deal. I'm on the market for a new 2017 cvo street glide. How can I be able to get a deal like that ???? I seen all the colors in person so far but the hit the dealer and they gone same day so no chance on making a deal but I'm debating on the carbon slate or the orange any help would be appreciated !!!!
